83-year-old Mary Pickford
had been selected by the Academy's Board of Governors to receive an honorary Oscar for her film work. She had announced that she would be at the ceremony, but her husband Charles 'Buddy' Rogers
nixed the idea due to her frail health. Cameras were set up at Pickfair (her home) and she received her award via satellite. See more
