It’s hard to believe but Summer Slam 2017 is almost upon us with only three weeks left until we get to see the best in the WWE slug it out for pride, promotion, and of course for titles. There’s been a lot going down as of late on both Smackdown and Raw, but the real matches to watch are going to be the title matches.  Right now all eyes are on the belts, and who’s going to walk out of Summer Slam with them around their waist. There are some heavy favorites for certain and some that people think shouldn’t

WWE Great Balls of Fire Predictions

Liam Hoofe predicts the results for this Sunday’s Great Balls of Fire Pay Per View…

While it might have the most ridiculous name in the history of WWE pay per views, Great Balls of Fire’s inaugural event this coming Sunday night is actually looking to be a pretty entertaining show.

Raw, despite having hit a creative stumbling block in the first half of the year, has really found its rhythm over the last month and has put together a card full of matches that actually make sense. Every match on this card has had a solid build and the event will no doubt prosper because of this.

With Summerslam just around the corner, the events of this Sunday’s PPV will dictate a lot of the summer storylines in the WWE, so let’s take a look at each match and predict who is going to walk away the winner. »

When Satire Becomes Real

On this week’s Smackdown, Jinder Mahal revealed the stipulation for his third WWE Championship match against Randy Orton: the dreaded Punjabi Prison. ‘Dreaded’ because the matches in it are usually pretty rubbish.

While a Steel Cage stipulation only has one layer of entrapment, the Punjabi Prison surrounds its competitors with two – an inner cage of bamboo, with an octagonal structure topped with ‘razor-sharp bamboo spikes’. It’s so successful, there’s only been two Punjabi Prison matches in WWE history, and the stipulation hasn’t been used in over a decade.

But according to satirical wrestling website KayFabe News – who publish humorously fake articles – this has been the plan all along.

Reddit user GeePrimus has unearthed a 2012 article from the site entitled: ‘Jinder Mahal only hired so WWE can use »

How WWE Should’ve Booked Undertaker Vs Roman Reigns

‘Smart’ professional wrestling criticism and fantasy booking isn’t just consigned to Internet fandom, four-year-olds also like to do WWE’s job better than them too.

Michelle McCool has posted a photo of her and The Undertaker’s daughter on Instagram watching Roman ReignsSummerslam announcement from this week’s Raw, where she proceeded to tell her father how to beat The Big Dawg and reclaim his Yard.

Of course! He should’ve used his muscles! It’s so obvious now.

And Younger Taker wasn’t the only person looking to beat up The Big Dawg…

Fishy Situation

Braun Strowman made his WWE return on this week’s Raw by bursting out an ambulance, screaming his own name, and beating up Roman Reigns. Strowman had been out with injury since last month after undergoing minor shoulder surgery.

As he keeps reminding The Big Dawg, Braun isn’t finished with Roman just yet, and their Ambulance Match at Great Balls of Fire was announced soon after. Unfortunately, Strowman’s follow-up trashtalking on Twitter contained a slight autocorrect mistake:

Told you #ImNotFishedWithYou

— Braun Strowman (@BraunStrowman) June 20, 2017

Never mind the yard. What about the sea!? All hail the new Poseidon, Braun Strowman!

Raw ratings

With the NBA Playoff season coming to an end, Monday Night Raw bounced back from last week’s 2.53 million low to 3.1 million viewers.

53% of you agreed with me that it was a Cor show, while 33% were slightly less impressed at AvRAWge.

Daniel Bryan Shoots On WWE

Daniel Bryan made his return on last night’s episode of Smackdown, stripping Carmella of her freshly won Money in the Bank briefcase. But her sportsman-like tactics weren’t the only thing Bryan wasn’t happy with in WWE, as he told NBC Sports:

“I think a change of presentation is absolutely necessary. I think the way that we present our superstars probably needs to change…when you watch say Ufc for example, some of the things that are the most endearing, that make you care the most about the fighters are these backstage vignettes that show their real personality…I think changing that dynamic and highlighting the personalities is something we really need to do.”

Breezeango’s Fashion Files skits are a perfect example of this, as is Daniel Bryan’s own success with the Dr Shelby segments when getting over Team Hell No with Kane. The Smackdown Gm mentioned American Alpha as one of WWE’s more recent failings.

And in another interview with Sports Illustrated, Bryan said he’s still “working on” an in-ring return.

Roman Reigns Big Announcement

Roman Reigns opened Raw with his big Summerslam announcement – or, as Michael Cole put it, his big hashtag Summerslam announcement – declaring himself No. 1 contender for the Universal Title. His well-thought out reason? Because this is his yard, obviously.

Samoa Joe rightfully thought this was bollocks, so came down and headbutted Roman right in the chest. God, Joe’s great. Reigns stood tall in the ensuing scuffle, and a match was made between them for later that night.

Matt was back to overtly leading Delete chants in the Hardy Boyz victory over Galanderson, hinting talks are back on with Impact Wrestling over the Broken Universe gimmick rights.

Ranking All 17 Money in the Bank Cash-Ins From Worst to Best

Liam Hoofe takes a look at all 17 previous Money in the Bank cash-ins and ranks them from worst to best…

This Sunday night the WWE will crown their 18th Mr. Money in the Bank. Since the debut of the Money in the Bank ladder match at WrestleMania 21, the bout has given us 17 victors, 15 of which have gone on to win world titles- a good omen for whoever walks away the winner this Sunday night.

Ever since the first cash-in at New Year’s Revolution 2006, the WWE have tried to surprise fans and come up with different and innovative ways to deploy the gimmick, the majority of which have been successful.

Not all cash-ins are created equal however and some of them have not quite worked out as planned. With that in mind, let’s take a look back at each Money in the Bank cash in and rank them, »

Luke Harper Breaks The Streak

There are many well-known streaks in professional wrestling – the Undertaker’s 21 straight victories at Wrestlemania, Raw’s run of horrible episodes from mid-November to March this year – but another one has come to an end: Luke Harper’s ‘You Know What That Means’ run.

Harper hasn’t used his Twitter account for anything else since Halloween last year, tweeting the day of the week and ‘You know what that means’ every day for the last 226 days. Until yesterday, where the Smackdown wrestler and sometimes actor promoted his new horror film Mohawk screening at the Fantasia Film Festival in Montreal.

The Beast, Unleashed

Two and a half months after winning the Universal Championship, and defending the belt across the United Federation of Planets, Brock Lesnar finally showed up on WWE TV, opening Monday Night Raw with a Paul Heyman-led promo. It’s a shame Heyman wasn’t wearing a neckbrace to sell being choked out by Samoa Joe the previous week.

Joe soon came down to show Brock he ain’t afraid of no beast, squaring up face-to-face, and then striking first with a mean looking headbutt. The two then had a great pull apart brawl, with Kurt Angle sending down Raw’s mid-card to keep them apart after the usual WWE security goons were destroyed.

After last week’s great promo, the Joe vs Brock feud is now two for two in fantastic segments. »

WWE Extreme Rules: 10 Best Matches in the Event’s History

31 May 2017 10:00 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

To celebrate this Sunday’s upcoming Extreme Rules PPV Liam Hoofe takes a look at the best matches in the event’s history…

Gimmick based PPVs are often criticised by fans, myself included. The shows often tend to shoehorn in a gimmick to a storyline purely to sell a PPV, often delivering stupid, badly booked PPVs in the process. The one exception to this is Extreme Rules.

Since its inaugural event in 2009, the show has become a staple of the WWE calendar, often delivering thrilling matches and great storyline progression. Outside of the big four (five if you count Money in the Bank) pay per views, Extreme Rules is often the one I look forward to the most.

While usually, I keep these lists down to five, Extreme Rules had such an array of great matches to choose from that I felt like it would have been criminal not to »

Memorial Day won’t just be blamed for Monday Night Raw’s inevitably low ratings, it’s also now the reason behind some fan’s anger towards R-Truth.

In honor of the armed forces, Goldust broke his heel character to tweet:

#RemeberTheFallen

Dustin Rhodes (@Goldust) May 29, 2017

Presumably still enraged by his Golden Truth tag team partner turning on him, R-Truth replied to the non-kayfabe tweet very much in fake pro wrestling mode:

— WWE R-Truth (@RonKillings) May 29, 2017

A few fans on Twitter found the message disrespectful, but nobody complained about Braun Strowman’s Us army-mocking Instagram post yesterday!
