Real reason Jinder Mahal won WWE Championship? Cm Punk rumor killer – WrestleTalk News

Oli Davis rounds up the biggest professional wrestling news in his daily WrestleTalk column…

Smackdown Live – where people succeed on merit; where championship opportunities aren’t just handed out, they’re earned; the land of opportunity.

Whoah, Whoah, Wait – Guys. That’s too much opportunity.

At last night’s Smackdown-exclusive pay-per-view Backlash, Jinder Mahal beat Randy Orton for the WWE Championship in the show’s main event, after interference from his Singh Brother goons. After being positioned as an enhancement talent and undercard player for both his WWE runs – the first from 2010 to 2014, the second from just after last year’s brand split to right now – it’s only within the last month that Smackdown has positioned him as a main eventer, becoming the WWE Championship’s No. 1 contender shortly after moving to Tuesday nights in April’s Superstar Shake-Up.

As strongly as WWE booked Jinder for those five or so weeks, »

Nxt: Takeover: Chicago Predictions

20 May 2017 12:22 AM, PDT | LRMonline.com | See recent LRM Online news »

Nxt: Takeover: Chicago will air this Saturday on the WWE Network for the first time outside of their quarterly, big four schedule. (The big four I reference of course being the WWE events Royal Rumble, Wrestlemania, Summerslam, and Survivor Series.) Taking place at the Allstate Arena in Chicago, Illinois, the show features the best and brightest of the WWE Nxt brand. Since the Nxt brand has consistently put on some of the best shows of the year for the WWE, I thought we'd take a few minutes to go through the card for the show while I offer some predictions on who may win.

Roderick Strong vs Eric Young

Roderick Strong has been on one heck of a roll as of late. He's still pretty young despite his years in Ring of Honor and other organizations. The WWE has a blue chipper on their hands with Roddy and I think »

National Beat Up John Cena Day is often attributed to Aj Styles, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson. But really, the year’s best holiday was actually founded by Kevin Owens on his main roster debut – which Ko celebrated yesterday with an anniversary tweet:

On this day 2 years ago, I showed up on #Raw to assault my child's hero on national television.

Happy Anniversary @JohnCena! @WWE

Kevin Owens (@FightOwensFight) May 18, 2017

Owens is such a good dad. It’s a significant moment in anyone’s childhood, when their father rips apart their beloved icons to reveal the world isn’t populated by superheroes, but just hordes of confused, morally compromised adults who have no idea what they’re doing…

As fun as who’s dating who gossip can be in WWE, I’m more interested in Balor’s long-distance relationships. Namely, the one with the promotion that made his name, New Japan Pro Wrestling, which Finn paid tribute to on Twitter as their Best of the Super Juniors 2017 tournament got underway. Look – a Zack Sabre Jr. in the wild.

Are you a WWE superstar down on your luck? Having to undergo serious elbow surgery back in February and abandoned by your life coach Bob Backlund? Well then why don’t you try the Jinder Mahal diet!

It includes no bread, no pizza, dear god that looks incredible and no fun of any kind.

Just look at No Days Off Darren Young, who’s tweeted a remarkable 3 month body transformation on his road to recovery.

WWE Summerslam plans revealed? WWE star leaving! – WrestleTalk News

Oli Davis rounds up the biggest professional wrestling news in his daily WrestleTalk column…

On last week’s Smackdown Live, Rusev announced he’ll appear on this week’s episode to confront Shane McMahon. The Bulgarian Brute has been out with injury since February – where he’s since found himself both drafted to Smackdown and split up from his long-time manager Lana – and now he’s demanding a championship opportunity at Money in the Bank on his return.

It turns out, though, Lana was responsible for more than just wearing red power suits and call cities by the wrong name. She also appears to have been managing Rusev’s diary, as he’s missed his first Smackdown appearance, not showing up at all on last night’s episode.

Why was he absent? A sporting event scheduling clash, of course.

Sorry #SmackDownLIVE I had to make the @PredsNHL game. See you when I see you. »

Liam Hoofe looks ahead at ten potential feuds that could take place in the WWE this summer…

With WrestleMania season officially done and dusted, and the rosters having settled down following all the debuts, returns and swaps – WWE fans can now begin to look forward to the company’s summer season. With plenty of new faces on both shows, the WWE should use this opportunity to provide fans with some exciting new feuds leading into SummerSlam and potentially beyond.

SummerSlam, which takes place in August, is often seen as the company’s second biggest show and tends to bring to a conclusion feuds that have been running through the summer months. With that time nearly upon us – here is a look at ten potential feuds we could see this summer.

WWE Payback 2017 Review

Liam Hoofe reviews WWE Payback…

Raw’s first PPV after WrestleMania is done and dusted, and what a weird and wonderful bag it was. We saw two title changes, a heel turn and one of the worst matches in recent WWE history. The show, for the most part delivered in the ring, and a lively crowd kept things hot when things got a little stale. While, unfortunately, the show will likely end up being remembered for just one match, there was a lot to like about Payback – here’s my match by match review of the show…

Liam Hoofe predicts the results of Sunday’s WWE Payback event…

WrestleMania 33 is now in the rear view mirror and the fallout from the event has seen several major changes in the WWE landscape.

Superstars and championships have moved homes, Nxt superstars have made their arrivals on the main roster, and most surprisingly of all, Jinder Mahal is now the number one contender for the WWE championship – what a time to be a wrestling fan.

The company returns to its brand specific pay per views this weekend, with their annual Payback event. The card features several big matches, despite the Universal title being absent from proceedings.  Here are my match by match predictions for Sunday’s big show.

WWE WrestleMania 33 Review

Liam Hoofe reviews WrestleMania 33…

Well, what a night that was. Clocking in at over 7 hours Wrestlemania 33 was quite the endurance test (finishing at 6:10am in my time-zone.) For once, though, the length of the event felt justified and WWE delivered a truly great Wrestlemania that will be fondly remembered for years to come.

With 13 matches to get through, let’s begin my match by match breakdown of last night’s crazy event.

Pre-Show: Neville defeated Austin Aries

This one really should have been on the main show. Neville and Aries delivered a cracking match to get the pre show started and further cemented Neville as the Mvp of the Cruiserweight division.

Aries looked really strong in his PPV debut and the top rope spots were awesome, I could watch Neville hit the Red Arrow all day.

Neville retaining through nefarious measures mean we are likely to see more matches »

10 Best Wrestlemania Matches To Watch On The WWE Network Part 2

"Stone Cold" Steve Austin vs The Rock- Wrestlemania 17

“Shaking hands with Satan himself.”

Wrestlemania 17, hands down, is the best Wrestlemania booked to date. Apart from a horribly short Women’s Championship match with Chyna facing off against Ivory, from the opening match to the main event, every match was great.

The main event of the show was "Stone Cold" Steve Austin vs The Rock. The previous year, Austin had been recovering from long needed neck surgery sustained at the hands of Owen Hart at Summerslam 1997. During his time away, superstars like The Rock and Triple H stepped up their game and became main event players in their own right. When you are out of action for close to a year, there is a very real fear that by the time you get back in the ring you would have lost a step or two. Or worse, that the fans would »

10 Best Wrestlemania Matches To Watch On The WWE Network Part 1

29 March 2017 5:12 PM, PDT | LRMonline.com | See recent LRM Online news »

It’s that time of year again. Wrestlemania is soon upon us. This event has become the most important event in professional wrestling, showcasing the best of the best of the sport putting on the show of their lives. With Wrestlemania appearing this Sunday on the WWE Network, I thought I’d take the time to discuss my ten favorite Wrestlemania matches, matches that to me epitomize everything that is great about the event. Like any list, it is purely subjective so if you disagree with anything or feel I left something out, let’s discuss it in the comments below.

Hulk Hogan vs Andre the Giant- Wrestlemania 3

“The irresistible force meeting the immovable object!”

Without Wrestlemania 3, it’s possible that Wrestlemania could have gone the way of Starrcade. The first two Wrestlemania’s, while star studded and showing some glimpses of what the event eventually became, were more events of their time. »

WWE WrestleMania 33 Predictions

28 March 2017 3:30 PM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Liam Hoofe with his predictions for WrestleMania 33…

WrestleMania 33 – ‘The Ultimate Thrill Ride’ – is this Sunday night and the WWE have put together one hell of a stacked card.  Every title, bar the Smackdown tag team championships, are set to be defended on the show, while several legends like Triple H and The Undertaker are also stepping back into the ring.

Whether or not the card will be any good remains to be seen, but the company has done a fairly good job in building some excitement for the event in the last month or so – and surely it can’t be any worse than WrestleMania 32? Who knows, but before we get to the event, here are my predictions for how each of the announced matches will play out…

Do you ever do that thing where you criticise something to somebody, and then realise they actually love the thing you’re slagging off? Well then spare a thought for Kevin Owens, who sent his Triple H friend Samoa Joe this tweet:

Goldberg’s WWE return success reason revealed, backstage heat between Tna & Roh

9 February 2017 11:47 PM, PST | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

When Goldberg made his WWE return in October last year, he quickly became the promotion’s top babyface. Goldberg, like Brock Lesnar, is a part-timer. He only works a limited number of dates and he’s not on every episode of Raw. Consequently, when Goldberg’s around, it feels like a big deal – like something you should pay attention to.

Many have pointed out that, bizarrely, this could be because staying off WWE television actually increases your star power. By not being on TV as much, he is neither over-exposed in three-hour shows every week, nor subject to the 50/50 booking that has failed to build the full-time roster.

According to the latest issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, however, another reason behind Goldberg’s WWE return success is down to someone else.

When reviewing the segment on this week’s Raw where Goldberg challenged Kevin Owens for the Universal Title at WWE Fastlane, »

Undertaker vs Roman Reigns backstage update, ex-wwe star Wrestlemania returns in works…

4 February 2017 2:44 AM, PST | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Not only was WWE’s biggest babyface Roman Reigns roundly booed for coming out at number 30 in last Sunday’s Royal Rumble match, he received even more heel heat when he eliminated The Undertaker. Partly because people actually like The Undertaker, and partly because it strongly implied what we’d be getting for Wrestlemania 33: The Deadman vs Roman Reigns.

As has been reported for the last few weeks, ever since news came out that The Undertaker and John Cena’s long-proposed Wrestlemania match was off, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter still has Reigns vs Taker down in WWE’s currently planned lineup, noting that “Vince McMahon had been wanting to make this match for some time…” and that “…with Undertaker’s condition the way it is, this could have been the last chance to do it. There is the idea of a generational passing of the torch.”

WWE Monday Night Raw Reaction 1/30/2017

31 January 2017 3:58 PM, PST | LRMonline.com | See recent LRM Online news »

Monday Night Raw is in the books for another week. One day after the aftermath of the Royal Rumble, the Raw brand finds itself on the Road to Wrestlemania. How did the show fare this week?

One big development is the official challenge from Brock Lesnar to Goldberg for one last match at Wrestlemania. Brock’s advocate, the legendary Paul Heyman, once again did the talking for him which, even on Paul’s worst night, is always a treat to watch.

Heyman’s promo on Raw was the textbook reason why some people need managers. Brock Lesnar, unless he’s in an interview setting, is about as interesting on the mic as watching paint dry. (I say this with confidence because he’s not in the room with me as I write this. If he were to walk into the room right now, I would say ‘Yes Mr. Lesnar, you »
