'Doctor Who' meets 'Sherlock' in epic mashup video and 5 more Whovian-approved crossovers

13 December 2013 3:00 PM, PST | Pop2it | See recent Pop2it news »

If you've ever wondered what would happen should "Doctor Who" and "Sherlock" cross paths somewhere on the BBC, chances are it would be something like this. "Wholock" is an expertly-crafted fan mashup of the two popular shows, with the Doctor (Matt Smith) and the detective (Benedict Cumberbatch) meeting in the Tardis.

The internet is filled with fan-made creations and Whovians are a talented group of people. With that in mind, here are five of Zap2it's favorite mashups featuring the Doctor.

"Harry Potter" vs. the DaleksHarry Potter can fight just about any battle, but Daleks might be out of his league. One YouTube user took a scene from "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" and replaced Death Eaters with Daleks, which is just mean. Harry and his friends are attacked while camping but it's the Doctor who has to save the day, armed with a sonic screwdriver.

Cuaron Could Return To Harry Potter?

23 November 2013 11:45 AM, PST | Dark Horizons | See recent Dark Horizons news »

Of all the "Harry Potter" films, the third one "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" arguably remains the favorite of many. That film's director, Alfonso Cuaron, has since gone on to even greater things including the recent megahit "Gravity".

Years ago, Cuaron was originally offered the fourth Potter film "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" to direct, but ultimately declined. Cuaron didn't come back for any of the further sequels, and so with that franchise over it looked like that was that.

Now, Cuaron has revealed that he might be open to return to the series to direct the upcoming "Harry Potter" spin-off/prequel "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" currently in the works. He tells Vulture:

"'Azkaban' was fun to make, and when I did it, I was invited to do the next one, but I didn't want to overstay the welcome, because it was such an experience. »

Robert Pattinson's New Goatee: Love it or Loathe it?

15 November 2013 10:15 AM, PST | E! Online | See recent E! Online news »

Fact: Robert Pattinson has amazing hair. The color, the texture, the way it can look sexy even when it's super greasy. Most of us have been swooning over his tresses since Twilight (and probably some of us since Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire). But while nearly everyone agrees the tresses on top his head looks great, here is were folks start get a little divided: His facial hair. For years the actor has been playing with his scruff. Experimenting on all of the various levels of chin fuzz. From clean-shaven to a full mustache-beard comb, there is no style he's not willing to try—including a goatee, which the actor debuted yesterday at the Go Go Gla in Los Angeles. Naturally his »

Guardian profile: David Tennant, our favourite Doctor … his time has come

15 November 2013 1:52 AM, PST | The Guardian - TV News | See recent The Guardian - TV News news »

Actor returns to face old foe in Doctor Who's 50th anniversary special, possibly the TV event of 2013, then is off to crack Us

Regularly acclaimed as the nation's favourite Time Lord, the former Doctor Who star David Tennant is accustomed to travelling through space and time. But even if he had a real-life Tardis it is unlikely that he would travel beyond the here and now, such is his ubiquity across screen and stage.

From his lead role in the ITV murder mystery Broadchurch to his return to the Royal Shakespeare Company in Richard II, via leading parts in BBC dramas The Politician's Husband and The Escape Artist, Tennant's tilt at world domination is enough to make the Daleks jealous.

Tennant will return to face the old foe in Doctor Who's 50th anniversary special – reunited with his companion, Billie Piper, alongside incumbent Matt Smith and guest star John Hurt. »

10 Best Royal Films

12 November 2013 8:26 AM, PST | WeAreMovieGeeks.com | See recent WeAreMovieGeeks.com news »

Next in line to inherit the throne of Royal films is Diana.  The film takes audiences into the private realm of one of the world’s most iconic and inescapably public women –  the Princess of Wales, Diana (two-time Oscar nominee Naomi Watts) — in the last two years of her meteoric life.

On the occasion of the 16th anniversary of her sudden death, acclaimed director Oliver Hirschbiegel (the Oscar-nominated Downfall) explores Diana’s final rite of passage:  a secret love affair with Pakistani heart surgeon Hasnat Khan (Naveen Andrews, “Lost,” The English Patient), the human complications of which reveal the Princess’s climactic days in a compelling new light. Diana is in select theaters now.

As long as filmmakers have been bringing the lives of England’s Kings and Queens to the silver screen have moviegoers been going to the cinemas to be schooled in British Monarchy.

One of the best, most effective seasons of television this year was seen by a very small amount of people.  BBC America quietly aired the eight-episode first season of the ITV series Broadchurch, which stars David Tennant (Doctor Who, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire) as an experienced detective who travels to the small town of Broadchurch to help solve the murder of a young boy.  What could easily have been a by-the-numbers procedural turned out to be a compelling, emotionally devastating run of television buoyed by excellent performances and a thoughtful, character-centric focus from creator/executive producer Chris Chibnall (Torchwood). Fox is developing an American remake of the series with Chibnall’s involvement, and word now comes that David Tennant will be reprising his lead role in the Fox show.  Hit the jump for more, including Chibnall’s thoughts on the American redo. Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them won't be an unfamiliar title for any true fan; it's one of the required textbooks for first-year students at Hogwarts, and a real-world version was published by Rowling in 2001.

We're keen to hear your views on the prospect of more big-screen magic from Rowling and Warner Bros, but we also want to reminisce about just how great the original film series was in its finest moments.

Here are ten of Digital Spy's highlights from the eight movies.
