Amazon’s Next Pilot Season To Include Adaptations Of ‘The Interestings,’ ‘The Last Tycoon’

26 May 2016 8:48 AM, PDT | Tubefilter.com | See recent Tubefilter News news »

As its existing original programs continue to draw viewers, accolades, and awards, Amazon is looking to add additional series to its library. Its next round of competing pilots will include adaptations of Meg Wolitzer’s acclaimed novel The Interestings and F. Scott Fitzgerald’s unfinished work The Last Tycoon, as well as six children’s programs.

The cast of Amazon’s adaptation of The Interestings will include Lauren Ambrose and David Krumholtz, with Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire director Mike Newell helming the pilot. The project, based off Wolitzer’s 2013 book, will chronicles several decades in the life of a group of summer camp friends.

The Last Tycoon, which was published as an unfinished rough draft after Fitzgerald’s 1940 death, will feature its own crop of familiar faces, including Kelsey Grammer, who will portray one of the principal characters. The pilot will be Amazon’s second foray into the world of Fitzgerald. »

Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation by Cecil Beaton

This week marks the 90th birthday of her majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Elizabeth Alexandra Mary was born in 1926. The Queen celebrates two birthdays each year: her actual birthday on the 21st of April and her official birthday on the second Saturday in June. (Trooping of the Colours)

She is the world’s oldest reigning monarch as well as Britain’s longest-lived. In 2015, she surpassed the reign of her great-great-grandmother, Queen Victoria, to become the longest-reigning British monarch and the longest-reigning queen regent in world history.

Looking to celebrate her Majesty’s birthday? First, everyone rise for the national anthem of the United Kingdom.

God save our gracious Queen!

Long live our noble Queen!

God save the Queen!

Send her victorious,

15 of the 20 most profitable blockbusters are sequels

The reason Hollywood keeps making sequels? They make the most profit, on the whole...

A new piece of research by Forbes has concluded that if you want to make serious cash from a blockbuseter movie then you need to be in the sequel business.

Taking figures provided by The Numbers, it analysed a list of what it reckoned to be the most profitable films ever – albeit by a fairly crude formula, that we’ll come to in a second – and discovered that 15 of the 20 films concerned were sequels.

The crude formula? It took the estimated cost of production of the film concerned, a figure that in truth is impossible to gleam at the best of times, and took away the worldwide income to the studio. Income, though, isn’t the same as profit. $1 taken at the box office in the Us returns more money to a movie »

Saoirse Ronan Boards On Chesil Beach

17 February 2016 12:02 PM, PST | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Fresh off her Oscar-nominated turn in immigration drama Brooklyn, Saoirse Ronan has signed on to topline On Chesil Beach, a long-gestating adaptation of the Ian McEwan-penned novella.

Given her past success with McEwan, the actress is a resoundingly logical choice for the lead role. At 13, Ronan became one of the youngest Best Supporting Actress nominees of all time for her performance in Atonement, another McEwan adaptation that was up for seven Academy Award nominations in total back in 2008.

This time around, she’ll play Florence, a young woman celebrating her wedding to Edward, with whom she’s entirely smitten, on the Dorset coast. Over the course of their wedding night, in 1962, the pair grow increasingly aware of their newfound duties as husband and wife.

Dominic Cooke, director of The Hollow Crown, will be at the helm for the intimate two-hander, which rolls cameras this fall. No distributor is currently attached, »

Warner Bros.

It’s been nearly 5 years since the last Harry Potter movie came out. Yep, let that sink in. With worldwide withdrawal symptoms becoming almost unbearable, it seems timely that our next Wizarding fix is now only a hand stretch away. Well, 9 months to be exact.

The first instalment of J.K. Rowling’s supposedly three-part spin off, Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them, is set to debut on November 11, 2016, and lets just say there’s a feeling of great expectation from Potter-heads everywhere.

After all, Harry Potter is pretty much the most successful movie franchise of all time, which, unfortunately for Fantastic Beasts, makes it a tough act to follow.

This film has the opportunity to satiate the never-ending hunger of Harry Potter fans and speculation has already begun as to how Warner Bros might incorporate the beloved series into the new trilogy.
