Elinor Ranney is the daughter of Jim Ranney, a racing horse owner. Danny Schnell, her father's jockey, saves Elinor's life in childhood. Danny is later thrown in a race, and is pronounced an incurable invalid thereafter. He is sent to his California home. Years later Jim Ranney loses nearly his entire fortune. Only one horse is left of his once great stable, and that belongs to his daughter. Ranney's troubles have made an invalid of him. Elinor, now her father's mainstay, finds a physician named Dr. Schnell, who undertakes to cure Ranney. The physician's method works wonders and Ranney is cured in a few days. Meantime, Lovetie, Elinor's horse, suffers also a mysterious ailment. Dr. Schnell takes the animal's case and works another remarkable cure. Lovetie is ready for the great Realization Handicap, and Dr. Schnell appears with his beard shaved off, as the erstwhile jockey.
