Cuthbert tells Arthur, who bandages his face and calls on Thelma, pretending to have the mumps, also. Cuthbert, anxious to call on Thelma, goes to the country hospital and asks the head doctor to give him the mumps germ. The doctor kicks him out but obtains Thelma's address so he can have the house put under quarantine. Many complications follow.—Les Adams <longhorn1939@suddenlink.net>
- Arthur and Cuthbert are rivals for the favor of Thelma, who fills her cheeks with candy when Cuthbert calls, sending word that she has the mumps and proving it by showing her face at the balcony. Cuthbert tells Arthur, who bandages his face and calls on Thelma, pretending to have the mumps too, until she denies having the disease, when he takes off his disguise. Cuthbert, anxious to get the mumps so that he can call on Thelma, goes to the county hospital and implores the superintendent to give him some mumps germs. The super kicks him out, but first gets Thelma's address and has the house quarantined so that Arthur can't get out. Cuthbert, meanwhile, sneaks into the mumps ward and rubs faces with the patients. His cheeks swell and he runs joyously into Thelma's house as Arthur succeeds in escaping when he sees his rival making his entrance, Arthur tries to get in again, but the guards see that he is not sick and he is forced to stay out while the hated Cuthbert gives Thelma the real mumps and enjoys a long period of illness with her.—Copyright Description from Library of Congress
