English title:-" Dawn of a New Day-The J.V.C. story"

A rare treat.Happened upon this film by accident & was thoroughly impressed.A first time directorial effort that hits all the marks. As the English title suggests, its the story of JVC company of Japan. Headed by Toshiyuki Nishida, a formidable actor & stalwart of many Japanese movies & t.v.Also stars Ken Watanabe another Japanese actor well known to western audiences.

Basically its a feel-good movie that will have you cheering & for my liking there are too few of these kinds of films these days. The fact that it is a lesson in recent history as well, makes this true story all the more riveting.

Western audiences can appreciate the story even if they are unaware of its history. The DVD release contains English subtitles making this a worthy foreign movie to have in ones collection. See it & be pleasantly surprised!

Similar feel good Japanese movie:- "Antarctica" remade in 2006 by Disney as "Eight Below"

Feel good, true story with lessons in business

Warning: Spoilers
I loved this movie, and I've watched it several times. It's the true story of how a better technology (Betamax) lost in the market to a technology (VHS) owned by a company that listened to customers.

Having lived and worked in Japan for five years, I also appreciated how much people can learn about the company and workplace norms in Japan. It's a treat for people who like to learn about other cultures.
