I don't know what happened to Phil Donahue
15 June 2003 | by (America) – See all my reviews

When I was younger I used to watch Phil Donahue's old shows. I was too young to understand a thing they were talking about. I just admired Donahue, but it was his incredibly annoying style and his having to compete with trash television like Jerry Springer and Ricki Lake that killed his legendary daytime show.

Doing a night time show was a little different. I did not like his show. Donahue didn't seem like himself. He ranted all the time, would attack his guests and seemed to waffle all of the time. It was a sad show for a man who was a cornerstone of television. The shows format changed a time or two. At first it was a Bill O'Reilly type show that would have different speakers, at the time they were talking about the war in Iraq.

The show in the end was more of a throwback to his older show which had him facing off with an audience and callers. It was better but still no avail in the end. That format was really awkward too. Donahue would bring on all of these celebrities and they would push their leftist agenda, and then Donahue would turn around in the next show and attack his leftist guests, he made no sense.

It is definitely a sad ending for such a great personality, maybe he will come back, I hope he does. If he does do another show hopefully it will not be anything like this one.
