Geek shows and movies on UK TV in the coming week

2 September 2010 8:59 PM, PDT | Den of Geek | See recent Den of Geek news »

Doctor Who At The Proms, a new fourth series of Mad Men, a return to Deadwood and Mock The Week, plus great movies for the weekend ahead...

We start the week with a musical treat and a temporary fix for our Doctor Who habits. On Monday, September 6th, at 8:30pm, BBC3 hosts Doctor Who At The Proms 2010 where a number of Who cast and characters will tap toes and sway eye stalks to Murray Gold's music. We'll have a special remembrance on the day from a fan who was in attendance at the filming of the programme. You'll find it in our TV section on Monday, with an additional reminder about the broadcast.

We heard good things about Deadwood, but missed the show when it first aired here. We reckon we'll rectify that gap in our TV western drama viewing and TCM aims to help, with daily airings »

Leverage’s Christian Kane Q & A Interview

19 July 2010 1:26 PM, PDT | | See recent AreYouScreening news »

If you aren’t watching Leverage, the modern Robin Hood show on TNT, you’re really missing out. Putting more fun and adventure into the con game every week, and providing a good mix of criminal comeuppance and character, the show is getting better and better.

I don’t know about you, but Eliot is definitely one of my favorites on the show, and Christian Kane took part in a Q & A recently. With not only several film and television titles under his belt, but also a blossoming singing career, Christian has a very interesting, multi-faceted guy, and the interview resulted in quite the exchange.

Before you get too wrapped up in the interview, check out his single. You’ll be glad you did.

Haley Joel Osment to Star in Sex Ed

14 July 2010 6:00 AM, PDT | FilmJunk | See recent FilmJunk news »

Haley Joel Osment is no longer the cute kid we remember from such films as The Sixth Sense and A.I.... that's right, he's all growns up now and he's looking to re-invent himself as an actor. What better way to change people's impression of him than to star in something that is the complete opposite of what he is known for? According to The Hollywood Reporter [1], Osment has signed on to star in a sex comedy called Sex Ed, where he will play a college graduate who ends up teaching sexual education to high school students despite being a virgin. But will he prove to have the comedic touch, or will this just be another example of stunt casting gone wrong? We all know it can be tough for child actors as they grow up and find themselves no longer in demand, and it's even harder when you earned »

Haley Joel Osment Teaches ‘Sex Ed’

13 July 2010 9:00 AM, PDT | | See recent HeyUGuys news »

It came as a great shock when I heard Haley Joel Osment (The Sixth Sense, Secondhand Lions) has been cast in a new coming-of-age tale entitled Sex Ed.

It was surprising not because it sounds like a bad film, but because Haley Joel Osment, despite playing a major role in M. Night Shyamalan’s The Sixth Sense, has been reduced to voice acting for straight-to-dvd animation films and video games. Could this mark the rebirth of a talented, and often overlooked, child actor?

Sex Ed will be directed by Isaac Feder, and according to THR Osment will play

a college graduate who dreams of teaching high school Algebra but due to budget restraints, end up teaching sexual education, despite being a virgin. He discovers an unlikely mentor in a blues bar, a ruthless enemy in the local PTA, and a gorgeous Polish girl for whom English is a distant second language. »

Haley Joel Osment is about to get some Sex Ed

12 July 2010 10:20 PM, PDT | | See recent JoBlo news »

I think I just made this news item seem a whole lot seedier than it actually is thanks to using Haley Joel Osment's mugshot, but oh well! So Osment (Secondhand Lions, A.I.), not seen in a film since 2007's Dtv feature Home Of The Giants, has now signed on to star in the coming-of-age comedy Sex Ed for first-time feature film director Isaac Feder. According to the film's producers, the story centers on "a college graduate who dreams of teaching high school Algebra but due to budget »
