Fox and CBS split the nightly win on a ho-hum Sunday night dominated by reruns. Fox was powered to the top spot in the adults 18-49 demo ranking (4.2 rating/10 share) on the strength of its 8 p.m. Simpsons rerun (13.2 million viewers, 5.6/14 in 18-49), according to preliminary estimates from Nielsen Media Research. CBS saw a respectable turnout in total viewers for its 9-11 p.m. Hallmark Hall of Fame telefilm The Locket (11.1 million, 2.4/6), which helped the network take the night in total viewers (12.3 million). NBC tied ABC for demo dominance in the 9-10 p.m. hour with a rerun of Law & Order: Criminal Intent (12.2 million, 4.4/10) against an original of ABC's Alias (10 million, 4.4/10). ABC won the final hour of primetime with The Practice (11.8 million, 4.9/12), but the network's nightly showing was dragged down by the weakness of 7 p.m. special Christmas in Aspen (7.7 million, 1.8/5). At 8 p.m., ABC's telecast of Charlie Brown Christmas (11.9 million, 4.4/11) came in second to Fox's Simpsons. »
