Anything But Cheese

'The Incredible Adventures of Wallace & Gromit' seems dated now, since their feature length 'Were-Rabbit' came out. Yet, it's still as fresh with ideas, humor, and worthy of being watched by all. I find myself laughing out loud at the same time of being amazed at the ingenious ways they come up with escapes, inventions and even expressions on Gromit's face. I always had strongly appreciated all the effort the creators went through to produce the clay shorts (and movies.) God, it must take years (or seems like years) to produce a single fraction of a second. But, I wouldn't recommend one of any of their adventures if not for such a touching duo Wallace and Gromit are or the smart and downright hilarious scripts. That all being said, some of these three "adventures" start off a bit slow, but once moving, they never look back. The sheep in general as well as the sheep in the sweater cracked me up in 'A Close Shave.' The Wall-e protégé in 'A Grand Day Out' would've made me like the Pixar movie less had I seen this first as I just loved the clean up robot with (ski-filled) dreams. And the penguin in 'The Wrong Trousers' had me rolling, especially when he was sweating out his heist or Gromit's train-track extensions. The extras on the DVD are also worth checking out, especially the invention shorts and the behind the scenes, causing more appreciation for their hard work. Side note – the disc I rented was damaged somehow, and in the process I lost some of the story line/scenes in the last two adventures. But, it's no big deal as I absolutely plan on buying all their shorts/movies eventually and recommend anyone, at any age to check out a wonderful alternative to CGI/animated features.
