The head of the vampire-hunting organization portrayed in Sleepless Nights is named Sloane, a reference to Edward Van Sloan, who played the original vampire hunter, Dr. Van Helsing, in the Bela Lugosi version of Dracula (1931).
The squad of blacksuited, crossbow-wielding NCA agents that raid Malgaard's hideout in Sleepless Nights are a reference to the black-garbed, rifle-toting soldiers that pursue Vincent Price in the finale of "The Last Man on Earth" (1964).
In the 2022 director's cut of Sleepless Nights, the bar that Grey and Kaitlin visit has a sign over the door identifying it as "The Blue Whale," a reference to the Collinsport bar frequently seen in the TV soap, "Dark Shadows."
