This is a film that everyone should watch as this major event seems to have vanished from the history lessons---which is noted at the end. This was an event that affected just about everyone in the world in one way or another. You can't have millions of mostly young people die on this earth and not have a major effect. History teachers talk about the effect that wars had on life, economy and environment but not this epidemic. Even the AIDs epidemic is taking the back seat in a long bus with the Iraq war and other things taking the other seats. This is a great film to watch if you finally want to know what it was really like to experience the deaths of so many in such a short period of time. The intimate interviews with the survivors make it the great documentary that it is. Second to that is the footage and photos. Overall, I think the way it is pulled together, showing a nation caught off-guard by this epidemic in the midst of WWI, is brilliant.
