Buckingham Palace is about to get a whole lot more palatial.

On Friday, the U.K. government approved a $460 million, 10-year palace renovation plan that is expected to add a multi-billion pound boost to the British economy. The makeover will include restoring water pipes installed after World War II, as well as electrical wiring and the heating systems, so as to prevent fire risks and flood damage.

The decade-long overhaul aims to improve visitor access, and will be done in phases so that the palace can remain fully functional.

14 November 2016 1:59 PM, PST | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

The world is still stunned over what many believe is the biggest political upset of all time, when Donald Trump defeated Hillary Clinton to become the President-elect of the United States of America. Barring an impeachment or any other strange turn of events, the American public will have to wait four more years to decide whether or not they want to vote Donald Trump out of office, and it seems that one contender has already announced his candidacy, Chris Rock. The actor-comedian announced just days after Donald Trump's upset that he plans to run for the highest office in the land in 2020. Ironically enough, he actually has more Presidential experience than Donald Trump does, in a manner of speaking.

Chris Rock took to Twitter on Thursday to announce his candidacy with a brief statement, "I'm gonna run in 2020 wish me luck." That message was accompanied with an altered movie »

From Back to the Future's Biff to Donald Trump: how pop culture can make a president

14 February 2016 10:00 AM, PST | The Guardian - Film News | See recent The Guardian - Film News news »

Who are the on-screen precedents for the presidential class of 2016? For Hillary Clinton, it’s 24’s President Taylor, for Bernie Sanders, it’s Larry David and for Jeb Bush, it’s Gob in Arrested Development

Around the time of the 2008 presidential elections, a popular theory took hold that movies and TV shows had paved the way for a black president: Dennis Haysbert in 24, Chris Rock in Head of State, Morgan Freeman … well, just Morgan Freeman. Barack Obama would never have swept to victory if the nation hadn’t been conditioned by these groundbreaking portrayals, it was implied. But has pop culture been laying the ground for the next occupant of the White House? In this most unexpected of election years, the next president is likely to be different in some form: the first woman/Latino/billionaire/religious maniac – and whoever it turns out to be, you can bet the entertainment industry will take the credit. »
