Trivia

John Wayne steps forth to host this anniversary show, which includes as bright spots, Red Skelton's perennial "old man at a parade" routine and Pat Hingle's impeccable impersonation of Thomas Alva Edison, It's just another musical variety special. Wayne gives a capsulized running history of the past 100 years between musical numbers, vignettes and vintage film clips; while other fine moments are filled by James Stewart as Mark Twain; James Whitmore as Will Rogers; Leslie Uggams' stylish song turn; and Albert Brooks' hilarious routine about holding open auditions to find a new national anthem. John Wayne's America...!!!
27 September 2002 | by (Las Vegas, NV) – See all my reviews

In essence this IS John Wayne. This is America....John Wayne's America...Your America and mine as well. Walk through the history of America, laugh a little, cry a little but most of all understand the PRIDE in America that John Wayne saw and had. If at ever possible to see this DO for it is a tribute like none other. The whole family can take pride in America and will talk about this show for years to come.
