Wild and Wacky fun for the Family
13 May 2003 | by (Orlando, Florida) – See all my reviews

Ah yes, the show pays an homage to the sixties. A decade where seriousness goes out the window. With films like CASINO ROYALE and shows like the sixties BATMAN with Adam West. The characters look like other cartoon characters. Captain Crandal is a Superman spoof that resembles Dexter (of DEXTER'S LABORATORY) with a Charlie Brown voice, Rope-Girl is a Wonder Woman spoof that looks like Kimmi (from the RUGRATS) or Ike (from SOUTH PARK) but not a Powerpuff Girl, and Skate-Lad is a latinoSuper Dave spoof that looks like Cartman (from SOUTH PARK). If you look at the chief (voiced by the great Joe Alaskey) he looks like something off from an old Hannah Barbera Cartoon made circa 1960's. Cartoon characters have catch-phrases. These trio of small superheroes do. "Buh-Zah" "Chi-Kah", Wuh-Pah". They fight a lot of wacky-looking villians. The Birthday Bandit (voiced by Mark Hamill of STAR WARS fame) will remind anyone who grew up in the 1970's of that villain under the same name in a Spiderman skit from THE ELECTRIC COMPANY. Yes there was a Spiderman skit in THE ELECTRIC COMPANY where he fights The Birthday Bandit (this one steals birthday cakes). The voice actors were great. Th coolest (and funniest) episode was "Attack of the Stuffed Stuff" which showed E.G. Daily as a voice of a villianess. Great voice actress isn't she. Admit it! She and Charlie Adler are the coolest. Anyway, this is NOT a POWERPUFF GIRLS rip-off (if you want a ripp-off watch A LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMEN which is due out this summer rumors have it that it's an X-MEN rip-off). But this show is good.
