An under-rated show
Roby7818 June 2006
This series was shown on ITV in the UK in 1997. I'd say it's a kinda cross between Tales of the Unexpected and The Twilight Zone but more supernatural - an anthology series.

There were 5 episodes each starring famous British actors and the production cost was pretty high as it was a prime time show on a Saturday night.

One episode was about a load of kids that were going missing and it turned out that a cult was sacrificing them, another was about a woman who was haunted by the ghost of a baby that she miscarried - this one starred Martin Clunes of Men Behaving Badly fame.

The director of some of these episodes (maybe all of them) later did the UK gangster movie called Circus which released by Columbia Tri-Star / Sony pictures.

I dunno what he's up to now but if you watch this series you'll see that it's a shame he didn't make more movies.

One of the best horror anthology series to date

Very chilling and unsettling, each episode caught my interest right off the bat and lingered in my mind long after. Its a shame they only made 5 episodes.

A very watchable series that ended too soon.

A British anthology series, comprising five different stories, all of which are from the horror/ thriller/ mystery genre.

If you're a fan of shows such as Tales of The Unexpected, Scorpion Tales and possibly even X Files, I think you may well enjoy this series, there really is something for everyone.

Episode quality does vary a little, personally my favourite was the opener, Prophecy, which is something of a pot boiler, a seance in a basement story, but it offers a great deal.

Toby is decent, but considering the cast and the ideas, it's maybe a tad disappointing, I felt they could have made it a little bit more chilling.

Such a shame this show lasted just the one series, made back in the 90's when anthology shows were out of favour, and horror TV series were almost invisible.

Martin Clunes, John Simm, Peter Egan and Mel Martin, just some of the names you can look forward to seeing here.

A longer series would have been good, but I have learned to enjoy what we were given, an original, different series.

8/10.
