Jeweller: [holding a diamond ring] Magnificent, aren't they? "God's tears".
Matthew: Yeah. It's beautiful. So are the others, I... I guess I just have to make the right decision.

A poor adaptation
29 April 2006 | by See all my reviews

If you haven't seen the original french film that was the basis for this movie then please, please, watch that one instead. I wonder what Gilles Mimouni thought of this remake of his 1996 french film, L'Appartement, which starred Monica Belucci and Vincent Cassel. Wicker Park pales in comparison to the original. For some reason, the plot seemed more acceptable in a Paris setting than a Chicago one. And it seemed more believable and intriguing too thanks to the wonderful acting of Belucci and Cassel.Unfortunately, Josh Hartnett and Diane Kruger, or even Rose Byrne were no match for their French counterparts. Those who have given this film a rating over 5 most likely have not seen the original. So please see L'Appartement instead.
