As Romantic Comedies go, SURPRISE is a bit more annoying than one would like from a movie in such a predictable and familiar genre. Its story is based on the old romantic comedy standby of mistaken identities, and while the ending is a bit surprising, the film itself up to that point is readily formulaic.Romantic comedies need to have likable characters to keep from becoming an annoyance. As mentioned, SURPRISE is a minor annoyance, with the bulk of the annoyance coming from its tiresome characters.
