A finely presented two-reel story is complicated by the interference of Tom during the hero's Henley, Wm. E. Shay and Violet Mersereau play the leads. The love story is complicated by the interference of Tom during the hero's absence. The girl's brother comes to her rescue, and during a struggle in the lake drowns Tom to save his own life. Hobart Henley did some particularly good acting in the part of the brother. The after scenes, when Billy returns and does some detective work on the case, are full of interest. The whole production is absorbing and well photographed. A good offering. - The Moving Picture World, October 31, 1914
