Michael Sheen and David Tennant have been cast in the lead roles in the Amazon series adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s “Good Omens,” Variety has learned.

The show is set in 2018 on the brink of an apocalypse as humanity prepares for a final judgment. But Aziraphale, a somewhat fussy angel, and Crowley, a demon, aren’t enthusiastic about the end of the world, and can’t seem to find the Antichrist. Sheen will play the role of Aziraphale, while Tennant will play Crowley. It will consist of six one-hour episodes.

Amazon declined to comment.

Sheen recently starred in the Showtime drama “Masters of Sex,” which ended its run on the premium cabler in November after four seasons. He has primarily worked in film during his career, having starred in “Frost/Nixon,” “Passengers,” both “Underworld” and “Underworld: Rise of the Lycans,” and “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn” among many others. Kate Beckinsale on turning down the role of Wonder Woman

11 August 2017 8:59 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Long before Gal Gadot donned the tiara and bracelets for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and her subsequent solo movie, Warner Bros. spent many a year looking to getting a Wonder Woman movie off the ground, with Joss Whedon boarding the project for a couple of years in the mid-2000s in what proved to be a failed attempt to bring the Amazon Princess to the big screen.

One actress high on Warner Bros.’ shortlist for the role of Diana Prince at that time was Kate Beckinsale, and speaking to Yahoo Movies, the Underworld star has (rather diplomatically) explained why she passed on the opportunity:

“The incarnations that I was seeing were… They weren’t this one [the 2017 film],” said Beckinsale. “Also, I don’t know if I was desperate to be in a leotard. I’d already done the rubber trousers. You have to take in that you have a »

Wonder Woman: Kate Beckinsale on why she never played the role

10 August 2017 2:17 PM, PDT | Den of Geek | See recent Den of Geek news »

Mike Cecchini Aug 11, 2017

Unmade Wonder Woman movies that weren't up to standard helped keep Kate Beckinsale out of a Wonder Woman costume.

Nearly three months after the release of Wonder Woman, which has just crossed the $400 million mark at the Us box office making it not only one of the biggest success stories of the summer, but the crown jewel of the Dceu, it's easy to forget what a difficult road to the big screen Diana had. Despite the fact that Wonder Woman is as important to DC Comics history as Superman and Batman, it took 75 years to get her on the big screen. Luckily, it was worth the wait, as director Patty Jenkins and company got things right.

But the lack of Wonder Woman movies wasn't for lack of trying by Warner Bros., and the early 2000s saw a particular effort for the studio to bring Diana to the »

Spider-Man: Homecoming Director Would Like To See Blade In The Sequel

5 July 2017 5:29 PM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Cast your mind back to New York Comic Con when Kate Beckinsale, star of the long-running Underworld franchise, seemingly let slip that Marvel Studios were working on rebooting Blade, be that in the form of a feature film, a spinoff Netflix series, or a role in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. much like Ghost Rider before him.

Speculation spread across the interwebs like wildfire; after all, the character of Blade (Aka Eric Brooks) still resonates with comic book fans years after his last screen appearance, and after portraying the badass vampire hunter numerous times himself, Wesley Snipes continues to hint that there is something cooking over at Marvel.

Sadly though, nothing has come to fruition – not yet, anyway. Still, fans remain hopeful that Brooks can one day stage a comeback, possibly carving out his own place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the process – as an R-rated feature, perhaps? That’s a »

Kate Beckinsale's Airport Look Could Take Her Right to the Club

5 July 2017 11:12 AM, PDT | PEOPLE.com | See recent PEOPLE.com news »

When it comes to dressing for a long-haul flight, even celebrities opt for somewhat causal looks. They go for comfort, and dress in easy-to-wear pieces like blanket scarves, vintage t-shirts and cutoffs and airy maxi skirts. But other times, for reasons we can’t quite understand, stars dress in fancy, chic attire fit for a date or night on the town.

Most recently, Kate Beckinsale was spotted arriving in London looking like anything other than a person who just spent more than eight hours on flight.

Sin City To Make Its Way To Television

Deadline is reporting that The Weinstein Company and Dimension Films, owned by the Weinstein Brothers, are developing Sin City for television. Writer Glen Mazzara, who's credits include The Shield and The Walking Dead is the showrunner with Len Wiseman, director of Underworld and producer of television shows such as Lucifer and Sleepy Hollow, set to produce. According to the article, the show is set to be a departure from the films, introducing new characters and storylines to the Sin City mythos.

The original Sin City, directed by legendary film director Robert Rodriguez, was a tour de force. While tackling some of the same material Rodriguez used in previous films, visually it was nothing like he ever did before. It was the closest we will probably ever see a movie that films a comic book panel for panel. The sequel, Sin City: A Dame To Kill For, was good but lacked »
