Now that Marvel has finally found its Doctor Strange in the form of internet darling Benedict Cumberbatch, the studio is moving ahead with filling in the rest of the main cast. One incredibly important role is that of The Ancient One, Doctor Strange’s mentor and the man who grants him the title Sorcerer Supreme.
In the comics, the Ancient One is said to come from Tibet, so technically, Watanabe is the closest fit for the role. However, we’ve seen time and again that race-swapping is common practice in comic-to-screen adaptations, and with actors of Freeman and Nighy’s calibre, we wouldn’t blame Marvel for making a few creative deviations from the source material.
Watanabe and Freeman are »

So, it’s already made the shortlist for Best Visual Effects… how many nominations do you think Paramount will manage to secure for Transformers: Age of Extinction?

Victor García has made a name for himself with being the guy who takes on straight-to-dvd sequels for popular films, having directed Return To House On Haunted Hill, Mirrors 2, and the much maligned Hellraiser: Revelations. After going through those sequels, it’s no wonder that García would jump at the chance to direct something original with The Damned, a possession tale that while not being a sequel or re-imagining of something, still gives off that been there, done that vibe, but provides a decent amount of twists and turns while doing so.
Focusing on Peter Facinelli (Nurse Jackie, Can’T Hardly Wait) and Sophia Myles(Underworld)’ characters of David and Lauren, a couple a week away from getting married, and their trip to Columbia to pick up his rebellious daughter for the wedding, The Damned begins it’s film journey with a very familiar setup of a father not »

Yes, that is Kate Beckinsale you're currently looking at and no we're not positive she actually dyed her hair blond. You see, the actress debuted her golden mane while she was on set filming her new movie The Disappointments Room in Greensboro, North Carolina on Monday. So the probability that her new 'do is simply a wig is very high—á la Sandra Bullock. Especially since just a few days ago the Underworld star was spotted with her signature brunette tresses intact. And if the 41-year-old did in fact undergo a mane makeover, than she also cut off quite a few inches—at least six. It should be noted that if the lighter hue is real then it wouldn't be the first time that the »
You've seen Michael Sheen on screen in Underworld and the Twilight series, as Prime Minister Tony Blair in The Queen, and even during his 2010 stint on 30 Rock. You may also be a fan of his current Showtime hit, Masters of Sex, but what's more impressive than his award-winning, two-decade-long career, you ask? His longtime status as a total chick magnet, of course. Michael's been dating gorgeous, talented women for years, and his latest love, comedienne Sarah Silverman, is yet another example of his impressive romantic pursuits. We're dying to know, what is it about the actor that has women like Kate Beckinsale and Rachel McAdams wrapped around his finger? Below, our findings. Source: Getty / Venturelli »
Movie News - Kate Beckinsale is to star in a new 'Underworld' film. The 41-year-old actress is to reprise her role as Death Dealer Selene once again for the upcoming fifth installment of the horror film series, IGN reports. Although the last film in the franchise, 'Underworld: Awakening', appeared to be preparing to move away from her character's story, Beckinsale's husband and director Len Wiseman has confirmed he is working on more 'Underworld' projects, including a new movie with his wife. He said: ''There's a few things being developed right now. There are some characters who we really liked that will be in a kind of a spin off like we did with 'Rise of the Lycans', then we have another film in the works with Kate as well ... And then there's a television series.'' It is so far unclear, however, whether Wiseman »
You can blame the huge success of Fargo for this. Hollywood, even before that, had been moving more and more to exploiting movie properties on the small screen. But since Fargo married up critical acclaim to a good audience? All bets are off.
Here are 23 - count 'em! - currently in differing stages of production...

As it has been decreed by the Ancient Ones, all that was once film must now be TV. So it should be no surprise that, as of Sunday, we’ve got two more film franchises to be thrown on Hollywood’s towering pile of movie-to-tv ventures: Resident Evil and Underworld. From Variety comes the news on Resident Evil- Constantin Films, the production company behind the franchise, told the publication they’re shifting Resident Evil to the small screen after the sixth film (tentatively titled Resident Evil: The Final Chapter) comes and goes. Then, over at IGN (which we picked up on via Digital Spy) came similar news from Underworld guru Len Wiseman- first a spin-off without Kate Beckinsale, then a main series film with Kate Beckinsale, then everyone packs up and moves to television. Wiseman also said the words “expanding” and “universe” in regards to all this new Underworld, but »

Selene's days aren't up yet. Despite rumblings that the Underworld franchise would barrel on without her, Kate Beckinsale is attached to continue playing the gorgeous vampire warrior for at least one more film. And there's a lot more to come in the wave of Underworld franchising. Screen Rant reports Len Wiseman dropped details on the expansion of the Underworld universe while he was at New York Comic Con promoting his hit television series Sleepy Hollow. Wiseman, who helmed Underworld and Underworld: Evolution and happens to be married to Kate Beckinsale, revealed that Underworld has three branches of expansion in the works, a "soft reboot," another Beckinsale-fronted feature, and a television series. At this time, all three are in development. Wiseman declined to comment as to which might roll into production first. Word of an Underworld reboot first hit last August, when the saga's most recent entry (Underworld Awakening) ended up »
Len Wiseman has been discussing the future of the Underworld franchise, and has suggested that Kate Beckinsale will be returning to the role of Selene for at least one more outing. It had previously been reported that Beckinsale would not be on board the fifth episode of the vampire saga, but from the sounds of Wiseman’s comments, that won’t be the case after all... “There are some characters who we really liked that will be in a kind of a spin-off like we did with Rise Of The Lycans,” says Wiseman. “Then we have another film in the...

Kate Beckinsale may return for the new Underworld films.
The actress has been teased for part of the relaunching project, with a television show also in the works.
"There's a few things being developed right now and there's some characters that we really like," the Underworld series writer and producer told IGN.
"There's kind of more of a spin-off of some of the characters like we did with Rise of the Lycans and then another film is also being developed in the works with Kate possibly as well, and then there's a television series as well.
"It's kind of expanding that universe in many ways."
The film will launch a new narrative but will be related to what has come before.
