The scenes where Godfrey of Ibelin slaps Balian of Ibelin to "remember" his oath as a knight, and Balian knighting another man with an oath slap is a reference to the 1987 film Lionheart, when Robert Nerra (Eric Stolz) was slapped during knighthood to "remember" his oath and then Nerra knighting another man with an oath slap.
