[Warning: If you haven't watched this week's The Secret Circle yet, what's your excuse? But seriously, the following contains major spoilers, so go catch up and then read on.]

The Secret Circle made a bold move in this week’s episode, one akin to its Thursday night companion The Vampire Diaries, by killing off a major character. Below, executive producer Andrew Miller shares with TVLine why he chose Nick (played by Louis Hunter) as the show’s first big casualty and what it means for the other characters — his sort-of girlfriend Melissa, in particular — going forward.

365 Days, 100 Films #57 - Scarface (1932)

1 October 2011 4:53 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Scarface, 1932.

Directed by Howard Hawks and Richard Rosson.

Starring Paul Muni, George Raft, Ann Dvorak, Karen Morley, Osgood Perkins, C. Henry Gordon, Vince Barnett, Edwin Maxwell and Boris Karloff.

Howard Hawks’ original Scarface from 1932. Tony Camonte is new in town and ambitious. It’s prohibition-era in America, which is great for the illegal liquor business.

It’s easy to forget, with all its influence, that America is still a young country. There’s a lot of history that it’s missed out on. It has no Robin Hoods or King Arthurs. It had to rapidly create its own heroes. Cowboys and gangsters. The Western and the Mobster films. The former were noble, until the Italians got their hands on the genre in the 60s. The cowboys would meet in the middle of town at high noon, whereas the gangsters ran around like animals. Italians again, actually, but back in the prohibition-era. »

'Glee' newbie Vanessa Lengies on Sugar's upcoming revenge (of sorts) and her scary moment with Idina Menzel

21 September 2011 4:49 PM, PDT | EW - Inside TV | See recent EW.com - Inside TV news »

Basking in the Glee glow hasn’t been as easy as one would think for new cast member Vanessa Lengies, who made her debut on the show last night as delusional high schooler, Sugar. As fans (about 8 million of them) were settling down to watch the premiere episode, Lengies was wrapping up a seven-hour dance rehearsal with her new Glee castmates and rushing to make it to her Glee premiere party (thrown by her Bff, Life Unexpected creator Liz Tigelaar). No rest for those who love Wicked.

Slightly rested up (and very sore), Lengies called EW earlier today to chat »

'Glee': Who is this Sugar Motta?

20 September 2011 9:47 PM, PDT | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

With the addition of Sugar Motta (Vanessa Lengies) to "Glee's" third season, Rachel Berry (Lea Michele) finds herself pitted against a merciless enemy -- one who can't even sing.

Here's what we know so far about McKinley High's newest addition (okay, well, technically Blaine is newer, but oh well):

She's got one-liners at the ready, like this one she dropped on Mr. Schue: "Obviously your ears are busted because I worked that song like a stripper pole."

She's self-diagnosed herself with Asperger's syndrome, which is a disorcer on the autism spectrum characterized by "significant difficulties in social interaction," per Wikipedia.

Her dad owns the piano store that donated the titular purple pianos to the McKinley glee club.

She means to be a member of the glee club and, with the departure of Santana, Lauren, Quinn and Sam (wah) they could use some warm bodies -- no matter how out of tune. »

'The Playboy Club' review: If you don't swing, don't ring

19 September 2011 8:44 AM, PDT | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

"The Playboy Club" is kind of "American Dreams" for grown-ups. It lacks the gravity of period predecessor "Mad Men," but that's Ok, for now. We certainly liked it more than we thought we would.

Amber Heard is Maureen (born Phyllis), our main bunny at the club - a Marilyn-type smalltown girl looking to reinvent herself in the big city. Surrounding her are nice bunny Alice (Leah Cudmore), sassy bunny Brenda (Naturi Naughton) and sexy, secretive bunny Janie (Jenna Dewan-Tatum). Presiding over the bunnies are David Krumholtz as Playboy Club manager Billy Rosen, Laura Benanti as the bunny-turned-house-mother Carol-Lynne and Eddie Cibrian as the dashing Nick Dalton, a successful attorney who frequents the club.

Ambition is the name of the game for the characters. Maureen aspires to perform, Brenda aspires to be the "first chocolate centerfold," Alice and her husband aspire to, well, we won't spoil it, but we didn't see it coming. »
