The narrator mistakenly mentions that Kirk Alyn and Noel Neill, who appear as Lois Lane's parents on the train that the teenage Clark Kent races, were the original Superman and Lois Lane in the movie serials in 1937, one year before Superman made his debut in Action Comics #1. The movie serial that Alyn and Neill appear in, Superman, was actually distributed by Columbia Pictures in 1948, followed by a second serial, Atom Man vs. Superman. See more »

The Story Behind Superman:The Movie
12 October 2014 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

The Making of 'Superman: The Movie' is a special feature that discusses the story behind the production of Superman:The Movie. It was hosted by Ernie Anderson.

It presents interviews from its cast led by Christopher Reeve, who portrayed Superman and Clark Kent, and the others like Marlon Brando,Gene Hackman,Valerie Perrine,Margot Kidder,Jackie Cooper,Mark McClure and many others. It also has interviews with its director Richard Donner and his crew. Aside from that, the viewers are treated to behind-the-scenes footage of memorable scenes from the movie such as the explosion of the Planet Krypton and the monologue of Jor- El,portrayed excellently by Marlon Brando, who was obviously reading the lines from cardboard during the take.Aside from that,we also are treated to location shootings such as New York City where important scenes with Clark Kent,Lois Lane and Superman are taking place. And definitely, fans are seeing how the special effects are being made manually as computers aren't modern during the time it was produced.

This was definitely an appreciation of how this timeless classic is being produced by in 1976.The special effects was something to behold considering that it was done almost 40 years ago when everything was done manually.Aside from that,we also get to witness great acting from the cast especially top actors during that time in Hackman and Brando. Finally,we are also given more reasons that the Superman franchise would have achieved more success with Donner at helm instead of other directors back then.Fans of Superman:The Movie should definitely make some time to watch it to have a better appreciation of this timeless caped crusader film classic.
