The past few weeks haven't been exactly stellar when it comes to genre fare hitting the home market. That changes with this installment of the famous Fangoria Chopping List. From the breakout hit Paranormal Activity to the family-friendly 9, to the sleeper hit Carriers and the much-discussed Jennifer's Body, it seems there's something for everyone this week. For those of you that had a Blu Christmas, all the bigger titles are also available on Blu-Ray.
Check out the list below the jump!
9 - Universal
Available on DVD and Blu-Ray
From visionary filmmakers Tim Burton (The Nightmare Before Christmas) and Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted) and Academy Award®-nominated director Shane Acker comes this visually stunning and original epic adventure. In the final days of humanity, a dedicated scientist gives the spark of life to nine of his creations. The world has turned into an unrecognizable landscape of machines and spare parts, but this

The Notable Films of 2010: Part Six

The Last Airbender
Opens: July 2nd 2010
Cast: Noah Ringer, Nicola Peltz, Jackson Rathbone, Dev Patel
Director: M. Night Shyamalan
Summary: A live-action film based on the Nickelodeon animated TV series. In a fantastic world where civilisation exists as four great empires, a reluctant young child sets out on a perilous journey to restore balance to a world torn apart by war.
Analysis: Its been quite the decade for M. Night Shyamalan who started it as a household name with labels of a moodern-day Hitchcock thanks to the likes of "The Sixth Sense" and "Signs". Today he's considered more of a one-trick pony and in some cases a punchline due to rampant stories of egomania run wild and a series of much derided onscreen flops like "Lady in the Water" and "The Happening".
Thus 'Airbender' marks a potential return to form for the helmer. An adaptation of the hit cartoon series

While the Paramount Vantage thriller Carriers (see our review here) is slated for a DVD release on December 29th (pre-order here), the rental market will get an early peek starting next Tuesday. The film has been scheduled for a December 8th rental release, with the title being made available through most DVD and/or digital rental channels. The film had a limited theatrical run back in September that bypassed most major markets (see story here) after being buzzed-about for over a year.
In a recent Fangoria Radio interview, filmmakers Alex Pastor and David Pastor revealed details on their next foray into genre fare, including their own take on the vampire/werewolf genre. Click here for details on that, and check out the latest trailer for Carriers below.
Starring Piper Perabo (Coyote Ugly), Chris Pine (Star Trek's new Kirk), Emily VanCamp (Everwood), Lou Taylor Pucci (Fanboys), and Christopher Meloni (Law

You are mere hours/minutes away from watching a new episode of Glee, this one titled "Ballad." To get you good and ready, we present the following teasers (and issue a Spoiler Alert, for those who need to turn away now):
• B, as in boom box, which Finn uses to express himself at a traumatic dinner at Quinn’s parents.
• A, as in “A male duck,” which apparently is Brittany’s definition of a ballad.
• L, as in “Lean On Me,” which is one of the songs performed tonight (along with “Endless Love,” “(You're) Having My Baby," “I’ll Stand By You,

Scott Wolf charmed us on 'Party of Five,' 'Everwood' and 'The Nine,' but his newest role on ABC's hit 'V' has us a little on the fence.
Apparently, Chad Decker -- the C-list news anchor he's playing -- is still a mystery to Wolf too, and that's ... Read more

Scott Wolf is an actor that’s bounced around on televised Drama for over a decade now. He’s been on some major shows like Party of Five, Everwood, and The Nine. He’s now taking his acting chops over to the new ABC series V, which starts up tonight.
Recently, we got the chance to chat with Wolf about the show, his character, journalist Chad Decker, the spoilers that people may know from seeing the original 80’s miniseries, and how a show like V will stack up against Lost (which happens to feature Wolf’s former on-screen brother Matthew Fox).
Check out our exclusive interview with Wolf after the jump. Also, be sure to take a look at some of the exclusive clips we have from tonight’s pilot, and catch the first episode of V on ABC tonight, November 3rd at 8 p.m. Et/Pt (7 p.m. Central

What happens when you're presented with an opportunity to be in the biggest spotlight there is? Journalist Chad Decker isn't getting a chance to sit down with a one-on-one with the president of the United States. But he is doing 100 times better, going mano-a-mano with Anna, the beautiful alien leader of the Visitors played by Morena Baccarin in the ABC series event "V." Played by Scott Wolf, Decker wants to get to the bottom of what's going on, but the spotlight is so bright, it's blinding him. The actor, known for his work in such shows as "Everwood" and "Party of Five," sat down Monday with Airlock Alpha to talk about his character, his opinion on if this will be the reimagined property that becomes a major hit, and if the world will explode if you bring together "Everwood" fans from his

The two stars of NBC's hit comedy talk about the popular second season
One of NBC's new comedies, Parks and Recreation, is certainly hitting its stride this season. After a short-order six-episode first season, the show was given a 13-episode second season order and was recently picked up for a full 22-episode second season as well. Two of the stars of the show, Rashida Jones and Chris Pratt, who play Ann and Andy, who were a couple in the first season before splitting up, recently held a conference call to discuss this successful second season. Here's what they had to say.
Chris, were you a little worried about what that meant for the fate of - for you on the show because I know this season you're promoted to I believe series regular but were you a little worried that you - what would happen with your character once you guys broke up?

'The Vampire Diaries' recap: Shhh. Be very, very quiet. We're hunting Salvatores!

I'll say this much for vampires who don't fight the urge to score their blood straight from the human's neck: They sure as heck seem to have better senses of humor! Or at least that seems to be the case when you compare witty bad-boy Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder, pictured) to dishy-but-broody bro Stefan (Paul Wesley). Indeed, last night's fourth Vampire Diaries installment (your regular recapper, Mandi Bierly, had the night off, Fyi) started out feeling like a particularly mean-spirited standup routine by a guy who's been undead (and not exactly thrilled about it) for a good century or so.

'Everwood' Alum to Join 'Grey's Anatomy'

We already know that there's an upcoming merger between Seattle Grace and Mercy West on Grey's Anatomy. Entertainment Weekly reports Everwood alum Sarah Drew is set to appear as one of the doctors of Mercy West that are heading to Seattle Grace. We all know her as the shy/uptight Hannah from the WB drama. She's now 29, but from her Everwood character, we figured she'd fit in quite nicely in the crazy world of doctors on Grey's Anatomy.
To the 90s kids, Drew also lent her voice to the character of Stacy on MTV's Daria. She's the eager and insecure secretary of the fashion club. And currently, she plays Suzy Pepper, a senior with a crush on her teacher on the Fox musical-comedy Glee. Her other roles include Salvatore's wife Kitty on Mad Men.

Sarah Drew is set to scrub in on Grey's Anatomy, apparently as one of the Mercy West docs heading to Seattle Grace thanks to the merger. Drew, best known as the awesomely uptight Hannah from Everwood and as Kitty (Salvatore's wife) on Mad Men, is venturing back to the Shonda-verse after a stint on Private Practice last season.
I'm wild about Drew and hope she can make the leap to Grey's regular -- she has the emotional eyebrow-cock thing down like nobody's business, and she might be just the actress to get me back into the show. Seriously, watch the

Last week at the Toronto International Film Festival, I sat down with a number of the main players of “Leslie, My Name is Evil” - Reginald Harkema’s pulpy and political black comedy about Charlie Manson devotee Leslie Van Houten. First up is a chat with Kristen Hager, who plays the infamous Leslie, and Gregory Smith, who plays juror Perry in the piece. Hit the jump to read about moving from small towns and innocent “Everwood” to sadistic murderers and religious folk, love of all things Canada, and the vampires and cops that are in their future.
Q: How did you both get involved with the film?
Hager: The old-fashioned way - I auditioned and got the role - that’s about it.
Smith: I did a movie a couple years ago, and the director of that movie and Reginald Harkema were friends, so he told him about me, and

'The Vampire Diaries' recap: Consider us glamoured

After reading Ken Tucker's review of The Vampire Diaries, I knew the new show from Kevin Williamson (Dawson's Creek, Scream) wouldn't suck. But I'm still breathing a sigh of relief after watching last night's premiere, because it's one of the fall shows I was really counting on.
The setup, even if you haven't read L.J. Smith's young adult novels the show's based on, is pretty predictable: Vampire Stefan (Everwood's Paul Wesley) returns to Mystic Falls, the town he was raised in more than a century ago, and enrolls in high school because he "needs to know" Elena (Degrassi: The Next Generation's Nina Dobrev), who bares a striking resemblance to a female named Katherine he knew back in 1864. Stefan's brother, Damon (Lost's Ian Somerhalder), also returns to Mystic Falls, and — surprise — unlike his brother, who he hasn't seen in 15 years, he still feeds on humans. And he's hungry.

White Collar made my day today by announcing that Natalie Morales -- one of our lovely geek hotties -- has been bumped up to full-fledged cast member. Holla! I was nuts about Morales on the little seen but wildly excellent The Middleman, so I'm glad that she'll be back in action, especially because, drumroll: White Collar has my new favorite cast.
Exhibit A: Tim DeKay Is there nothing I don't love about Tim DeKay? (Maybe Tell Me You Love Me.... but even that he was good in, it was just a weird show.) I loved him on Everwood. I super loved him on Carnivale, which again, kind of a weird show, but he was so convincingly old-timey and gruff. The New Adventures of Old Christine, The 4400, Scrubs -- stop stalking me, Tim DeKay! Just kidding, please stalk me.
Exhibit B: Matthew Bomer, aka Bryce from Chuck. My, my. Sure,

Those of you who are of a certain age no doubt remember the phrase "Must See TV" and its application to NBC's Thursday night lineup of shows during the 1990's. For those of you that don't know, I'm a huge fan of Degrassi: The Next Generation. Imagine my utter delight when I got to interview Nina Dobrev who played Mia Jones in the Canadian television staple. More respectably, I was also a huge Everwood fan. Although he had a smaller part, Paul Wesley's Tommy Callahan still stole my heart when he stole Emily Van Camp's Amy Abbott away from protagonist Ephram Brown. And did you know that Paul was also in American Dreams? He played Tommy DeFelice. Remember? These two were hitting up my television favorites before I was old enough and wise enough to write about TV for a living. I made a point to catch up with them both at the Entertainment Weekly and SyFy Comic-Con party in San Diego earlier this year.
