The story starts with the separation of Arcangel Juarez because he can't sleep, and his wife decide to abandon him with his little son. He receives a call from his brother telling him that his father is very sick and if he can go to see him. Arcangel takes his little son and goes to his old house and remember when his father dismiss him from his house throwing rocks, when he arrives to his old house in a small town in Oaxaca, he finds that his father died 15 years ago, His brother died in USA some years ago, all explained by Isabel, the old neighbor.
She start the story of the family, when Isabel tells that he is identical to his great grandfather, and that he receives a damnation for all his descendants, when a French soldier pass though the Town, the history of the family continues to finally return to the start, when Arcangel finds that he have to decide the best way to help his family to end this damnation for his family.
The history starts strong and interesting, passing some important events in Mexican history, but the development of the characters and some weak moments in the plot makes the movie boring beyond the first half to give a regular conclusion.
The photograph and the art direction is regular, the acting performances are less than standard, the direction have good moments but is regular in general, I can say that the story possibly do more, but lacks of development.
The best thing I can say is that the Oaxaca secondary performances by locals, not actors give a great realism to the movie.
