Hidalgo (2004) More at IMDbPro »

The content of this page was created directly by users and has not been screened or verified by IMDb staff.
Since the beliefs that parents want to instill in their children can vary greatly, we ask that, instead of adding your personal opinions about what is right or wrong in a film, you use this feature to help parents make informed viewing decisions by describing the facts of relevant scenes in the title for each one of the different categories: Sex and Nudity, Violence and Gore, Profanity, Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking, and Frightening/Intense Scenes.

Sex & Nudity

In the scene where the English "lady" is introduced, she is wearing a black, very low cut evening gown that pushes up her breasts. The camera sometimes focuses briefly on them.

When she tries to later seduce Hidalgo in her tent, she is again wearing a v-cut bodice and some camera angles focus directly into the v - showing the sides of her breasts.

When the Sheik jokingly asks his nephew about some coffee and whether a horseshoe thrown into the pot would stand erect, Katib replies, "At your age, perhaps it is the only thing that might."

The Sheik thinks that Hopkins had sex with his daughter (he didn't).

A man threatens to castrate another man.

Violence & Gore

An army man tries to wrestle a rifle from an Indian that he doesn't know is deaf. The gun fires into the air and Army men then open fire on some of the Indians (we see them fall, but don't see the impact or any blood). When Frank returns to the scene, he sees many more dead Indians on the ground as well as an Army guy shoot one last Indian dead.

Lots of action violence throughout (little or no blood).

An intense sequence where men on horseback have to outrun a sandstorm.

A man threatens to castrate a man.

A hooded man is briefly beheaded (not clearly shown, no blood, not very graphic)

At least 4 hells and 2 damns.

Frank smokes several times, while the Sheik smokes once from a hookah, although there's no indication it's narcotic based.

After the Sheik believes that Frank has "violated" Jazira's honor, he orders that she be flogged (she isn't) and Frank be castrated. While Frank is tied to a pole, we see a man sharpening a knife and then approaching and struggling with Frank who tries to convince the Sheik to pardon him (other events occur that prevent the castration).
