There are several references to sexual acts, none too graphic.Scenes of different rooms of people having sex in a hotel, one being an orgy.A scene with brief male nudity after a character is chased out of a room while having sex, which we cannot see.Two women have a conversation about very personal sexual acts, no explicit words are used but the subject of the conversation is obvious (including oral and anal sex).A married woman is seen having sex with another man.A scene implies rape upon a woman. Although we see nothing, it is later mentioned.There are a few talks of rape against women.A man is forced to strip and is then humiliated, we briefly see his buttocks.On several occasions, characters talk about losing virginity.
There are many scenes of violence including shooting people with guns, many of them involving children as victims or shooters.Several shots of dead bodies, covered in blood.A man kills a woman by hitting her in the head with a shovel. While nothing is shown, it is a very violent scene to watch.There are numerous fight scenes with blood, guns, beating, etc.A scene involves chickens being killed and skinned.
Lots of profanity including countless uses of the f-word as well as other explicit and insulting words and phrases. Although the movie is in Portuguese, the profanity is translated into the appropriate English in the subtitles.
Almost all characters in the film are drug dealers or drug users. Characters are shown handling, discussing, using, packaging or selling either marijuana (Labeled "pot" in the film) or cocaine.Many characters (Including young children) are shown asking for and/or smoking joints casually. Characters also casually snort cocaine.
The movie contains an extremely-large amount of disturbing violence.There is a large amount of point-blank shootings (many of them execution-style), graphic beatings, hold-ups, robberies and intimidation.Children are shown shooting, robbing and murdering others (including children).There is a very disturbing scene where a gang catches three children, shoots two them on the foot and then forces the third children to shoot to death one of the first two.There is a brief rape scene (nothing graphic is shown). For the most part, the entire length of City of God is incredibly intense and frightening.
