The content of this page was created directly by users and has not been screened or verified by IMDb staff.
Since the beliefs that parents want to instill in their children can vary greatly, we ask that, instead of adding your personal opinions about what is right or wrong in a film, you use this feature to help parents make informed viewing decisions by describing the facts of relevant scenes in the title for each one of the different categories: Sex and Nudity, Violence and Gore, Profanity, Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking, and Frightening/Intense Scenes.

Sex & Nudity

Contains infrequent very mild sex references

A man and a woman kiss a few times in a few scenes, a man kisses a woman's hand, and a man and a woman hug and he nuzzles her neck. A man is bare-chested while changing his clothes.

Violence & Gore

Contains frequent moderate action violence

A getaway and cop car crash into each other with one nearly killing Peter on his Mo-Ped. He flips out of the way but the Mo-Ped is mangled. A villain then fires a shotgun at the cop car, hitting it and causing it to crash into another cop car. It then becomes airborne and heads straight for a group of people, but Spider-Man's web catches it in midair, saving them. The villains then fire shotguns and machine guns at Spider-Man, who punches the bad guys, and he pulls two from their car with that webbing and suspends them in the air. A fusion reactor experiment goes awry resulting in a massive explosion. Bodies slam into walls and are pummeled by flying debris. Some people, terrified and screaming, are killed. Doc Ock's wife has a large shard of glass go through her eye, the scene cuts away on impact so nothing is seen. Doc Ock smashes up an ER, maiming and killing the doctors and nurses attempting to help him. A man is thrown through a plate glass window. Others are impaled, crushed and beaten by the flailing octopus arms. An especially cringe-worthy sequence has a woman digging her fingernails into the floor to slow her path toward death. During the hospital scene a doctor grabs a chainsaw attempting to cut off one of Doc Ock's arms but moments later the doctor is attacked by the other three arms, they move on on him as he screams and all we hear is a hard hit and we see him his hand come down holding the chainsaw implying his death was graphic. He robs a bank, killing all those who oppose him. (Peter just so happens to be conducting a financial transaction at the bank when he bursts in, and the two commence hurling large bags of coins at each other.) Doc Ock also uses "civilians" as human decoys, flinging them high into the air, knowing Spider-Man will go after them. He smashes the controls of an elevated train, sending it racing to its doom which Peter stops before it plunges over the end of the tracks . Doc Ock kidnaps two women, forcing Spider-Man to fight with him to save them. A man slaps another man across the face. An SUV gets hurled into a diner, flying directly over Peter's and Mary Jane's heads. Cabs and other vehicles are tossed around and mangled. Intent on killing Peter, a man pulls a dagger. A building burns down. Another structure is pulled down by the strong magnetic force generated by the fusion reactor. Officers dodge bullets. A man is beaten up by thugs in an alleyway. Many innocent bystanders are hurt.

Contains mild langauge

"Hell" is used a few times. One use each of "ass" and "piss", two uses of "crap".

Contains innocuous alcohol consumption and brief sight of smoking

Doc Ock smokes a cigar for a few seconds, then he gets the cigar out of his mouth, and he blows smoke. J. Jonah Jameson is constantly shown smoking a cigarette. Champagne is consumed at a party.

Contains moderate fantasy horror and intense fight scenes

Doc Ock's appearance and his bizarre robotic tentacles might be unsettling or scary to some younger kids. The scene where Doc Ock kills a group of surgeons with surgical tools is a slightly bloody scene. The Hospital scene is dark and startling and probably the most disturbing and violent scene in the film, a typical Sam Rami scene, but it is both scary and disturbing especially for young audiences. One or two "jump" scenes that will most likely frighten children. The scene where Spider-Man fights with Doc Ock and stops a speeding train from falling off its tracks is very intense. The final battle between Spider Man and Doc Ock at the waterfront laboratory while Mary Jane's life is in the balance may be intense.
