Natalie Portman on ‘Angie Tribeca’ and Three More Shows to Watch Tonight — IndieWire TV Picks for May 8

8 May 2017 3:00 AM, PDT | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

Monday, May 8

Angie Tribeca,” 10:30 p.m., TBS

Episode Title: “This Sounds Unbelievable, But ‘CSI: Miami’ Did It”

Network Synopsis: Natalie Portman’s in this one, but also a man falls from the sky and the team investigates a lead in space.

Why You Should Watch: The Oscar winner alone is worth the tuning in, just to see her embody a modern-day Nasa scientist who looks, sounds and acts like a ‘60s housewife. According to IndieWire critic Ben Travers’ review: “Portman grasps the tone quickly and then runs away with the scene, her soft inflections and glowing expressions creating a beam of light gliding through the scene.” The episode reaches new heights of lunacy, and not just because some of the action takes place in space. Also, a bonus visit to the Acme Corporation, a favorite of the tenacious Wile E. Coyote, pays off richly in visual gags.

Yes, You Definitely Know Who Plays Alex in 13 Reasons Why

4 April 2017 3:55 PM, PDT | POPSUGAR | See recent BuzzSugar news »

Image Source: Netflix 13 Reasons Why has slowly taken over our lives, and we've been trying to figure out where we've seen all the cast members before. Some actors, like Brandon Flynn (aka Justin Foley), are just breaking into the industry. Others, like Dylan Minnette (aka Clay Jensen), have been appearing in shows and movies for years. The guy who plays Alex falls into the latter category; his name is Miles Heizer, and he's been acting since 2005, when he appeared on CSI: Miami. That's (probably) not why you know him, though. Heizer starred for six years on NBC's ensemble drama Parenthood. He played Drew Holt, the shy son of Sarah Braverman (Lauren Graham). Image Source: NBC If you didn't immediately recognize him, the blond dye job may have thrown you off! In addition to small TV roles, Heizer was in the 2016 film adaptation Nerve alongside Emma Roberts and Dave Franco. »

Actor Ricardo Medina, best known for his roles in Power Rangers Wild Force and Power Rangers Samurai, has pleased guilty to killing his roommate. Ex-Red Power Rangers Actor Pleads Guilty To Killing Roommate, With A Sword!

16 March 2017 3:36 PM, PDT | LRMonline.com | See recent LRM Online news »

Ricardo Medina, who played the Red Power Ranger in the Power Rangers Wild Force and Deker in Power Rangers Samurai, was originally accused in 2016 for killing his roommate Josh Sutter -- with a sword, no less -- to which Medina claimed he was not involved with. At that time he faced 26 years for murder on the initial charges.

Well, apparently his story has changed, and fear not because our justice system "works," as he has now pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter. According to the Los Angeles County District Attorney he will face “one felony count of voluntary manslaughter and admitted an allegation of using a sword in the killing.” In California, one can receive 3, 6, or 11 years if found guilty of this crime, and upon much research I could find no information if early parole is possible. It is reported he will receive 6 years. We have no idea what happened in this situation, »

‘Shades of Blue’ Actor Gino Anthony Pesi on Self-Diagnosing a Rare Disease

9 March 2017 10:00 AM, PST | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

Gino Anthony Pesi has starred in many police procedurals, but the “Shades of Blue” actor’s life feels more like an episode of “House” — and a far-fetched one at that. Four years ago, he was suffering from an illness that caused weight gain and depression and baffled doctors. Pesi spoke with Variety about his role on “Blue” and his journey of self-diagnosing a rare disease.

What were your first TV roles like?

I got my first network gig on “CSI: Miami.” It was a couple of one-liners, but it was terrifying because it was in front of over 100 extras.

But now you seem so confident alongside stars like Jennifer Lopez and Ray Liotta.

I was confident on “Shades of Blue” because a lot has happened to me in my life since then. Any concern I had wasn’t about being opposite Ray and Jennifer, it was about am I going to be able to give them what »

The Sound of CBS’ Training Day: An Interview with Composer Jeff Cardoni

We chat with composeer Jeff Cardoni about his work on CBS’ Training Day

CBS’ highly anticipated Training Day makes its debut this week in the coveted Thursday night 10pm slot. One of the main questions critics and fans are asking is how the show will be different from the 2001 Denzel Washington film which won him an Oscar. There are a few similarities between the two projects, the series picks up 15 years after the events of the feature film with new characters (and the same theme). Bill Paxton (Big Love) plays the morally ambiguous veteran detective (Washington’s role) while newcomer Justin Cornwell is the young idealistic cop assigned as his trainee (Hawke’s role).

Here, Det. Kyle Craig (Cornwell) joins the Special Investigation Section (Sis) on an undercover mission from deputy chief Joy Lockhart (Marianne Jean-Baptiste) to spy on Det. Frank Rourke (Paxton) and report back on his unorthodox tactics. »
