UnReal Takes on The Bachelorette in the Dramatic Season 3 Trailer

18 October 2017 8:15 AM, PDT | POPSUGAR | See recent BuzzSugar news »

After seemingly critiquing The Bachelor for two seasons with their own, fictional version of the show, Lifetime's UnReal is about to take on the franchise's female counterpart. In the trailer for the third season, conniving producers Rachel Goldberg (Shiri Appleby) and Quinn King (Constance Zimmer) get ready to introduce the first female suitor on Everlasting, portrayed by Caitlin FitzGerald of Master of Sex. It's clear from the trailer that Rachel and Quinn won't be able to manipulate this suitor the way they have in the past, surely presenting new challenges and drama to come. The third season is set to premiere on Feb. 26, 2018. »

Trailer Watch: The New Suitress Is Making the Rules in “UnREAL” Season 3

18 October 2017 8:01 AM, PDT | Women and Hollywood | See recent Women and Hollywood news »

UnREAL

A powerful woman is pulling the strings in the new season of “Everlasting,” and it’s not Quinn (Constance Zimmer) or Rachel (Shiri Appleby). A teaser has dropped for the third season of “UnREAL,” and the reality dating show at the center of Lifetime’s critically acclaimed series is making history for the second season in a row. Last season of “Everlasting” saw a black suitor introduced for the first time, and this season will mark the first time a female suitress has held the reins. The spot hints that there’s a seismic shift on set — the female suitress is a game-changer.

From now on, the only rules are the rules I make,” says the show’s new star, Serena (Caitlin FitzGerald, “Masters of Sex”). Quinn and Rachel have their work cut out for them — the producers aren’t going to be able to manipulate Serena into doing their bidding with as much ease as previous suitors. As Rachel admits, “She’s smart. We can’t handle her in the same way.”

UnREAL” was created by Marti Noxon (“Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” “Mad Men”) and Sarah Gertrude Shapiro (“Sequin Raze”), the latter of whom worked as a producer on “The Bachelor.”

According to Deadline, helmers this season include Shapiro, Hanelle M. Culpepper (“Quantico”), Sheree Folkson (“Doctor Who”), and Zimmer, who will be making her directorial debut. Appleby directed an ep last season and will once again step behind the camera. Earlier this year the “Roswell” alumna inked a multiyear overall deal with A+E Studios, the producers behind “UnREAL.” The agreement sees her creating and developing new projects and producing original programming for the studio and outside buyers via her Appletree Pictures banner.

Season 3 of “UnREAL” will premiere February 26, 2018. The Emmy-nominated series has a new showrunner, Stacy Rukeyser, an executive producer who has worked on the show since it launched. Check out the trailer to meet Serena and to see Quinn’s reaction to a brawl the suitors get into.

‘UnREAL’ Season 3 Trailer: A Female Bachelor Shakes Up Lifetime’s Fan Favorite Drama — Watch

17 October 2017 1:02 PM, PDT | Indiewire Television | See recent Indiewire Television news »

The craftiest women in fictional reality television may have finally met their match on “UnREAL.” The third season of Lifetime’s most addictively meta-theatrical drama will feature a female “suitress” named Serena, played by cast addition Caitlin FitzGerald (“Masters of Sex”). FitzGerald’s character poses new challenges for power players Rachel Goldberg (Shiri Appleby) and Quinn King (Constance Zimmer), who battled for control of the fictional dating show “Everlasting” during the first two seasons. In the trailer, Serena has ideas of her own about how to run the ship, and Rachel and Quinn must step up their game if they want to stay in power. If the slow takes of the many male contestants slowly disrobing are any indication, the queen bees of “Everlasting” will also struggle to keep things strictly professional.

The Bachelor is hoping to rev your enthusiasm engines a little early this season. Bachelor Nation was a bit shocked when it was announced that Arie Luyendyk Jr., the runner-up from Emily Maynard's season of The Bachelorette (which aired in 2012), would be the franchise's next leading man. Since being dumped by the single mom in season eight, Arie has not appeared on any of the franchise's spinoffs and has yet to use his name as a promo code in a sponsored ad on Instagram, so he's basically The Bachelor's version of a unicorn. But ABC knows some fans might not remember Arie, 36, which is the whole point of their latest promo, which E! News is exclusively debuting above. "It feels like »
