a surprisingly awesome sequel

At first sight, I found the graphics, colors and portraits in Heroes of Might and Magic IV very different and not so good as HOMM III. Well, in fact the graphics were visibly improved, but the colors were much brighter and the portraits and general scenario seemed more like a cartoon of some sort. I mean, it was a bit cheerful, instead of the opaque colors used in HOMM III. But turns out that I was just not yet used to the new enhancements HOMM IV gave to the series. As I played and days went by, I was finally finding all the graphics and related much much better, and when I started HOMM III for the last time, the graphics seemed so simple and naive in comparison to those of HOMM IV that I couldn't stand them anymore. But until now it's all about the superficial matters of the game. At last, HOMM IV showed up being so great that, as the weeks were passing, I still wasn't capable of perceiving all the new features it gave upon the previous games of the series. It has just a lot of new strategy options, new monsters for recruiting, and your hero improves himself so consistently that you can follow up and be aware of all aspects of his progress (all his skills and schools of magic), instead of the fluidity heroes from HOMM III had, where it seemed that, although they gained levels, you couldn't make much use of it. Also, and very important, the magic and spells in HOMM IV works overwhelmingly great, no need to say better than in the previous games. In conclusion, HOMM IV is a sequel that has lots of changes and new players used to the previous games of the series will be, as I was, a bit suspicious of it and might think at first that HOMM IV is not as good as it should be. But a little time spent playing it and soon all disappoints might be vanished, and HOMM IV will reveal itself as being the best sequel of them all.
