Lusha left the show after the fifth season due to creative differences with Lopez. Her last appearance was in the first episode of the sixth season.
Masiela Lusha (Carmen) was the only member of the main cast to not be of Latin descent - she is Albanian.
Wife Angie Lopez is played by Constance Marie whose birth name is Constance Marie Lopez.
'Belita Monreo' also plays a Mexican grandmother to a grandson named Max in the hit Disney channel show Wizards of Waverly Place (2007).
During an appearance on The Sharon Osbourne Show (2003)'George Lopez' revealed it was his wife who first suggested 'Constance Marie' for the role of George's TV wife Angie.
In the earlier seasons of the show Belita Moreno who plays George's mother can be clearly seen wearing some heavy "age" makeup. This may be due to the fact that she is only ten years his senior. Later the makeup shows up less most likely after the audiences accepted Belita as his mother.
'Constance Marie', who is of Mexican descent, plays George's Cuban American wife. William Marquez, who is Cuban, plays George's Mexican-American father.
The character 'George Lopez' was ranked #18 in TV Guide's list of the "50 Greatest TV Dads of All Time" (20 June 2004 issue).
In every episode, a new inspirational saying is written on the chalkboard on the side of the Lopezes' refrigerator.
Ernie, played by Valente Rodriguez, wears a wedding ring in the intro of each episode. Ernie is an un-married man in the show.
Scenes taking place in Carmen's room reveal that she is a fan of Linkin Park and 3 Doors Down.
