It will be produced by Lionsgate Television, led by Television Group President Kevin L. Beggs and COO Sandra Stern; Joe Roth and Revolution Studios' Vince Totino; Sheen manager Mark Burg's production company, Evolution Management; and Ramon Estevez and Estevez Sheen Productions.

Those who don't remember the 2003 comedy Anger Management starring Adam Sandler and Jack Nicholson can probably count themselves lucky for erasing the over-the-top comedy from their mind, but now audiences will have to deal with a new kind of Anger Management in the form of a new sitcom on FX starring Charlie Sheen. The new comedy series is loosely based on the aforementioned 2003 comedy film of the same name, and currently has a 10-episode order for its first season which will begin airing sometime in 2012. The Drew Carey Show and George Lopez writer/producer Bruce Helford will executive produce and act as showrunner. Since the series is loosely based on the Adam Sandler film, I'm guessing it will follow Sheen's character as he works through some serious issues but with a dark comedic tone, hopefully along the lines of Louie. More after the jump. Honestly, despite all the craziness surrounding Charlie Sheen, »

“We think that Bruce Helford, Joe Roth and Charlie Sheen have come up with a wonderful, hilarious vehicle for Charlie’s acting talents — and a character we are very much looking forward to seeing him play,” said FX prez John Landgraf. »

HollywoodNews.com: Duh! Of course Charlie Sheen had ulterior motives for acting like a stand-up kind of guy at the Emmys and elsewhere the last week or so.
He’s in the process of getting his “Anger Management” series set up — something that wasn’t about to happen if he ran about naked in hotel lobbies, hitting women and lobbing nasty remarks about his former employers. With Deadline Hollywood’s Nellie Andreeva now reporting that showrunner Bruce Helford (“The Drew Carey Show,” “George Lopez”) has signed on for Sheen’s planned series for Lionsgate, it’s all too obvious. Next, if his “Two and a Half Men” legal action is indeed settled, the way will be clear for the new show. (Anybody want to take bets on whether Helford will live to regret this?)

While Two and a Half Men premiered earlier this week without star Charlie Sheen, the notorious actor is moving ahead with his own new sitcom Anger Management, which is based the 2003 comedy of the same name starring Adam Sandler and Jack Nicholson.
In the series, Charlie Sheen will take over the role of volatile therapist Dr. Buddy Rydell, who helps various individuals with their own anger management issues.
The series is expected to be shopped to all of the networks later this week. »
It’s official: The Drew Carey Show creator Bruce Helford will guide Charlie Sheen in his return to series television with Anger Management. I’ve learned that Helford has closed his deal with Lionsgate TV to come on board the project as writer/executive producer/showrunner. Helford, who has created two successful sitcom starring vehicles in the past — ABC’s Drew Carey and George Lopez — was one of several veteran showrunners that Sheen met with and someone the actor connected with right away. Based on the 2003 Jack Nicholson-Adam Sandler movie about a mild-mannered man (Sandler) ordered to attend group anger-management sessions led by a volatile therapist (Nicholson), Anger Management will star Sheen as an updated version of Nicholson’s character. The project is being produced by Lionsgate TV, Joe Roth’s Revolution Studios and Sheen manager Mark Burg’s production company Evolution Management. With Helford officially locked in »

Either Charlie Sheen has officially launched his rehabilitation tour, or he’s suddenly feeling flush with cash.
In the last week, Sheen has made appearances that suggest he’s ready to close the book on his ugly goodbye from Two and a Half Men. Is the Cold War with his ex-bosses over? It could be: EW has learned from several sources that Sheen is thisclose to settling his lawsuit against Warner Bros., which pink-slipped the actor last winter after he publicly derided Men creator Chuck Lorre. Sheen fought back in March by filing a $100 million suit demanding payment for unproduced »

Exclusive: Charlie Sheen Teaming With ‘Drew Carey’s Bruce Helford On ‘Anger Management’? Exclusive: I’ve learned that The Drew Carey Show creator Bruce Helford has entered negotiations to write, executive produce and run Charlie Sheen’s new comedy series Anger Management. Helford was one of several veteran comedy showrunners that met with Lionsgate TV and producer Joe Roth on the project and emerged as a leading candidate for the job about two weeks ago. Helford has been considered a strong choice to create a starring vehicle for Sheen, having done the same in the past for Drew Carey with ABC’s The Drew Carey Show and George Lopez with the comedian’s eponymous ABC sitcom. He will develop Anger Management based on the 2003 Jack Nicholson-Adam Sandler movie, with Sheen set to play an updated version of Nicholson’s character, a volatile anger management therapist. Once there is a showrunner on board, »
