Trivia:

Many of the wrestlers use din the film were wrestlers who worked out of the California Indy circuit. All who at one time or another worked for UPW run by Rick Bassman.

Goofs:

Continuity: The second time Rick visits the junkyard he gets mud stains on his blue shirt. As he's talking to Jeff the stains are still there. However, after he says that the fight is off and walks behind Jeff, the stains are gone.

Weak comedy but just about bearable

Jeff (Justin Whalin) and Derek (Zachery Brian) are two young wrestling fans who dream of becoming wrestling stars on their local back-bar wrestling circuit. But in the meantime they're stuck serving meals, whilst their rival, wrestling hotshot "Switchblade" Rick gets all the adulation and sexy chicks, including the apple of Jeff's eye Shane (Josie Davis.) But when they contact their wrestling idol "The Slammer" for help he trains them so they can take on Switchblade in a winner-takes-all final fight for glory.

Sasha Mitchell was a video action star who I always liked, but eventually his 'career' dried up and he was co-starring in even smaller grade comedies such as this. He maintains his charismatic and engaging presence but these comedy films he appears in have this habit of appearing really family oriented, only to reveal embarrassing crudity in the script. Although there is, in fairness, little of the shocking potty mouth that filled Spike of Bensonhurst, this family friendly appearing effort still contains nudity, pot smoking, masturbation and even a sex scene!

The film moves along rather boringly, with little in the way of actual laughs, some ropey, amateurish acting and quite a dour camera style. But the plot, some fairly neat wrestling action and Mitchell's lively presence just about keep it from being thrown out of the ring. **
