The Wire star Idris Elba refused to ask his Obsessed co-star Beyonce for help launching his music career.
The British actor is currently working on his first album and plans to tour Europe later this year.
Elba worked closely with Beyonce when they made the big screen thriller together, but even though he is close friends with the R&B superstar, he has never talked to her about his own musical ambitions.
He tells British magazine Now, "I'm actually a little bit nervous about playing my stuff to people I work with.
"After working with Beyonce, we got to know each other really well, but I didn't say, 'Hey, did you know I do music?'
"Beyonce is a phenomenal talent and a star, but I'd rather she just heard stuff and was like, 'I really like that. I want to work with him,' rather than by other means."

A few days ago, we got a look at 3 different theatrical one-sheet posters for Marcus Dunstan's directorial debut The Collector. Now, we've got a look at the first official "red-band" trailer courtesy of IGN! Check it out embedded below!
The Collector follows the story of handyman and ex-con Arkin, who aims to repay a debt to his ex-wife by robbing his new employer’s country home. Unfortunately for Arkin, a far worse enemy has already laid claim to the property – and the family. As the seconds tick down to midnight, Arkin becomes a reluctant hero trapped by a masked “Collector” in a maze of lethal invention – the Spanish Inquisition as imagined by Rube Goldberg – while trying to rescue the very family he came to rob.
The project, produced by Fortress Features’ Brett Forbes and Patrick Rizzotti and Imaginarium Entertainment Group’s Julie Richardson, stars Josh Stewart (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,

Dominic West has claimed that foreign actors are taking roles that should be taken by Britons. The Sheffield-born star, who himself played an Irish-American policeman in The Wire, said that he has taken the role of Australian scientist Professor Howard Florey in upcoming BBC Four drama Breaking The Mould as a form of revenge, The Guardian reports. West said: "I'd never heard of this guy and I just thought it would be interesting to play this unknown guy and then they said he's the biggest guy in Australia. "But I was sort of smarting from Russell Crowe coming over here and playing Robin (more)

Ramon Rodriguez has just joined the "Transformers" franchise in the second movie "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen", but he has made quite an impression to director Michael Bay. Speaking to Los Angeles Times few weeks before the sequel was released, Michael hinted that there could be a 'meatier' role for the new cast member should "Transformers 3" will be made.
While Michael didn't really give a clear hint on the matter, he did speak nothing but praises for the Puerto Rican actor. "We went looking for a sidekick in this movie, Shia [Labeouf]'s sidekick, and we find this new kid who really pops on screen," he explained. "I think he's going to have a real bright career. It's great to work with big stars, but it's always fun to discover people."
The director of "Bad Boys" series continued, "He's got a street edge and a realness to him. He's a

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is currently drawing monstrous numbers at the box office, passing the $400 million worldwide mark on Monday and climbing to the third largest movie of 2009 domestically. While I’m sure it will easily top the charts over the holiday weekend, fans are already clamoring for details on a third Transformers.
In an La Times profile of Ramon Rodriguez today, director Michael Bay “hinted” at a larger role in Transformers 3 for the young actor who played Leo Spitz, the conspiracy theorist roommate of Sam (Shia Labeouf). The role was originally offered to Jonah Hill (who might have been much better suited for the comic relief), but he passed on the opportunity. After Hill declined, Bay discovered Rodriguez who the filmmaker describes as having a “street edge.” Like those controversial Twin robots?
In the interview, Rodriguez talks about how he auditioned for the part: “For 90 minutes, he had me jumping,

Hollywood has a peculiar way of getting ahead of itself. It’s all about that hype train; you want to load in as many passengers as possible while it’s at top speed and then sort out the destinations later. Take last week’s “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” and its seemingly inevitable sequel. Director Michael Bay’s robot warzone weathered buzz-killing so-so reviews and finished out with a record-breaking $200+ million opening weekend.
So it’s no surprise to hear that Bay hopes to expand on breakout “Revenge of the Fallen” star (and last week’s Hump Day Hottie) Ramon Rodriguez’s role in the next “Transformers” movie. The newcomer certainly turned in a solid performance — as solid as a one-dimensional blockbuster sidekick can be — and he continues to align himself with powerful Hollywood players.
Speaking with the Los Angeles Times, Bay said that “we went looking for a sidekick in ['Revenge of the Fallen'], Shia’s sidekick,

"Slim pickings" is the best way to describe this week's releases. Isn't anyone planning to stay home and watch DVDs?
Joaquin Phoenix can't decide between Gwyneth Paltrow and Vinessa Shaw. Directed by James Gray, this suffocating drama is dark, thoughtful, and "more true to real human existence than most of the dreck that comes out of Hollywood studios," wrote Kim Voynar. I wasn't quite as impressed by it as she was, but it's still my top pick in a slow week. Also on Blu-ray. Rent it.

Wrestler John Cena stars in Renny Harlin's latest train wreck (as I described it in my review), a sober drama that resolutely refuses to embrace its loonier plot elements (fire engine smashing through New Orleans, an out-of-control street car). Aidan Gillen (The Wire) provides one of the few pleasures as an exceptionally-nasty master criminal. Also on Blu-ray. The "Extreme Cut

The Philanthropist, starring James Purefoy (HBO’s Rome, A Knight’s Tale, Resident Evil) as Teddy Rist, started off by confusing me a bit but by the end of the episode, I found the story to have a compelling emotional element that kept me tuned in.
The show opens in the middle of a chase scene where Rist is being fired upon by some locals while on a river bank, barefoot in a jungle somewhere. We then jump to a bar scene where he’s chatting with a young lady while she’s bar tending and he explains in a backtrack sort of fashion how he came to being shot at on this riverbank.
They use this venue of Rist talking with the bartender to recant a quick history of how he got to this point of time.

Earlier today, it was revealed that Columbia is taking steps to bring the PlayStation 3-exclusive video game “Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune” to the silver screen. As a fairly obsessive gamer, I have to say that I’m very pleased with this news.
Granted, game-to-movie adaptations don’t have the best of track records. “Uncharted” is a special case though. The game continues to be lauded for its tight narrative and blockbuster-style delivery. If there’s a game out there that could simply be carried over into the passive entertainment space of film, it’s this one. But which actors would be best for which parts in the coming adaptation?
Nathan Drake
A descendant of Sir Francis Drake, Nathan Drake is cast as an atypical action hero. He’s a ruggedly attractive dude, sure. But he’s a little bit clumsy, a little bit bumbling and not terribly tactful. Elisabeth already

Warner Bros. has planted its adaptation of DC/Vertigo’s The Losers in the April 2010 lineup. The film - about a black ops team that goes looking for revenge on the Agency that betrayed them - will be released in close proximity to Sylvester Stallone’s similarly-themed mercenary/revenge actioner, The Expendables.
Will this move by Warner Bros. put the two films on a collision path? Or is April 2010 just going to be one hell of a fun month for action fans?
Screen Rant has been covering The Losers for a hot minute, but so far reader interest has been lukewarm at best. So in case you’re hearing about the film for the first time, here’s a more detailed synopsis:
The Losers chronicles the story of a special forces unit tasked with waging the war on terror, who are ultimately betrayed by their handler, “Max,” and get left for dead.

I sat down with Ramon Rodriguez and others in Los Angeles at the Four Seasons to talk about Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and more. Rodriguez stars as Leo, Sam’s roommate and conspiracy theorist.
Click here to Watch Jeff Bayer’s interview with Megan Fox, Josh Duhamel and Tyrese Gibson
Bayer: Leo is constantly seeing things he can’t believe, and he’s a conspiracy theorist. So why does he keep doubting throughout the entire film?
Rodriguez: Listen, you can have your theories, but when you see it in person man, that’s the funny part. He freaks out. I think that’s a natural human reaction and a lot of people would feel the way Leo did.
Bayer: So what are you looking at while filming the Transformers?
Rodriguez: Poles and a tennis ball, man. And if we’re lucky, we’ll get a face of who we are talking to.

Our money is on Isabel Lucas and Ramon Rodriguez to reach Megan Fox-like levels of fame.

On July 2, 2007, Megan Fox was a little-known actress who had appeared in a handful of TV series and the forgettable "Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen," starring Lindsay Lohan. By the next day, when "Transformers" busted into theaters on its way to grossing $700 million at the worldwide box office, Fox was a star.
With "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" opening Wednesday and possibly set to do bigger business than the original, another little-known performer could become 2009's "Transformers" breakout star. MTV News caught an early screening of the film, and now we present our top picks for the actor and actress you'll be talking about in the days and years to come.

Someone’s moving to 10/9c Wednesdays on NBC, and his name is Teddy Rist. He’s all about living the life that only a billionaire playboy could, until a life-altering event involving a little boy changes his entire perspective, and turns his life around. The Philanthropist tells the ongoing story of his journey through Western Africa, slogging vaccine (and his undeniably handsome face) to afflicted villages, and managing his money a little better. What brought about this change in him? A little boy, who forced him to lay aside selfishness, and who saved him while on a routine business trip to Nigeria. As we see Teddy’s metamorphosis to Mr. Altruism begin to take place, we learn that he is mourning the loss of his young son, and saving the little boy starts to fill this hole in his heart. There appears to be no shortage of marketing materials for this summer's most anticipated film, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen from director (and my personal hero) Michael Bay. Paramount and Dreamworks have been working overtime splicing together clips and TV spots that integrate in small bits and pieces of the film so as to not give too much away, but also to keep us coming back for more. And it appears to be working. Today brings us a wide array of clips and TV spots, all full of footage that we've seen before -- more Shia Labeouf talking about how this isn't his war, more Megan Fox yelling "Sam!" and looking rather attractive and more Optimus Prime telling us that there's a lot that has been kept from Sam (and us, for that matter). So lets get into the ones that don't show much in the way of new footage. First
