Denise Richards: examining her recent straight-to-dvd movies

17 July 2016 3:10 PM, PDT | Den of Geek | See recent Den of Geek news »

Kirsten Howard Jul 19, 2016

From Blonde And Blonder and You Stupid Man, through to Edmond: we go through the recent straight-to-dvd films of Denise Richards...

So far in this series of pieces that look at the straight-to-dvd or VOD movies of some of our favourite actors who have fallen on hard times, we’ve only looked at men (to date: Bruce Willis, Nicolas Cage, John Cusack and John Travolta). That’s because, mostly, actresses find themselves almost completely out of the game once they hit 30ish – an unnecessary full stop that a lot of us would like to see removed in the future.

Denise Richards, sadly, is no different. After marrying a man she found herself in an abusive relationship with, her career climb stumbled and she was forced back down into TV roles, where she’s currently still putting in the hours.

Richards had a sparkling, American Dream-like start in life. »

Movie Review – The Huntsman: Winter’s War (2016)

5 April 2016 2:43 PM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

The Huntsman: Winter’s War, 2016.

Directed by Cedric Nicolas-Troyan

Starring Chris Hemsworth, Charlize Theron, Emily Blunt, Nick Frost, Rob Brydon, Sheridan Smith, Alexandra Roach, Sam Claflin and Jessica Chastain.

Synopsis:

As two evil sisters prepare to conquer the land, two renegades Eric the Huntsman, who previously aided Snow White in defeating Ravenna, and his forbidden lover Sara set out to stop them.

When is a sequel not a sequel? Well, when it’s a prequel of course. And when is a prequel not a prequel? A sequel. Right? Such confusing things are not uncommon in Hollywood these days where the words mentioned above, as well as the unrelenting desire to create universes, are as commonplace as they ever have been. In the case of The Huntsman: Winter’s War, it has the supreme distinction (and in equal measure confusion) of being both a prequel, a sequel and lest we forgot potential universe builder. »

Some things are better left unsaid ...and unwatched. When it comes to Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee's infamous sex tape, David Hasselhoff refuses to lay eyes on it. "No. No!" the actor, 63, said on Sirius Xm's Dirty, Sexy, Funny with Jenny McCarthy when asked if he's seen the video. "Because I knew her. It was like watching my freaking sister. No I couldn't. Did you watch it?" Jenny McCarthy, who starred alongside Anderson in Scary Movie 3, had a different opinion. "I knew her. I loved it!," McCarthy, 43, admitted. "But I'm crazy David." Film Review: Pee-Wee's Big Holiday

18 March 2016 1:33 PM, PDT | LatinoReview | See recent LatinoReview news »

*This review is meant to be entertaining.  So, drop the red pen, and let me do me.  Paul Reubens requested that we not give away much of the plot, and I will honor that request so everyone can go watch the movie with no prior knowledge. Having said that, let's get to it!*

I grew up on Pee-Wee Herman (Paul Reubens). I had the doll that oddly resembled the Steve Urkel doll, and watched the television show every chance I got. The excitement upon hearing a new adventure was on the horizon was intense.  Pee-Wee’s is long overdue for another feature film and thank goodness Netflix came to the rescue. And, to hear that Judd Apatow was attached was certainly a nice cherry on top. We may not be in the days of Superbad anymore, but Apatow has contributed a great deal to comedy in the last decade.

Hate it or love it, »
