About 9 years ago the Portuguese TV station SIC had a project to support the production of a few TV movies, which were broadcasted by the station. I don't know if they had success with that project but since they stopped it one or two years later I guess it wasn't that successful. Anyway, a few number of movies was produced and TEOREMA DE PITÁGORAS is one of those. If I can remember this movie was broadcasted in a Sunday afternoon (or Saturday...) probably in 2001. It was showed nowhere else so I guess nobody remembers it today...

The plot is about JOAO (Pedro Granger), a young man which uses to have much success with women but doesn't treat them as he should. They are like a toy to him, till the day he meets ANA (Patricia Tavares). That girl will change his life and the way he sees the relationships between men and women, but not before a "little problem" called SOFIA SALGADO (Fernanda Serrano) – a TV star in the movie – come into their relationship...

It's mainly a romantic comedy but with some dramatic tension as well. The acting is quite good. The main actors were already recognized professionals in the Portuguese acting scene at that time (exception made to Pedro Granger who was emerging), so all of them did a nice job. The movie is simple, quite realistic, and tells us a story which can happen to anyone of us... And it proves one more time that is not necessary to have a large budget to make a nice film.
