MaryAnn Sleasman: 'America's Got Talent' Recap: Sweeping St. Louis

31 May 2012 7:12 AM, PDT | Aol TV. | See recent Aol TV. news »

The whopping four days I spent in St. Louis a few years ago earned the city a near and dear place in my heart and it was sweet to see America's Got Talent give the town a little love this season. The St. Louis auditions were a big improvement over the mostly cringe-inducing Tampa acts. Among those heading off to Vegas are Spencer Horsman, "the world's youngest escape artist" who enlisted the aid of Nick Cannon to tie him up tight in a straight jacket before he dangled between a gnarly looking contraption that I've decided to call The Jaws of Death. It was a refreshingly intense act with all the trappings of a potentially thrilling stage show -- death-defying stunts and a dashing daredevil performer.

Issac Brown sang an adorable rendition of the Jackson 5's "I Want You Back" and basically just dominated the stage with his wise-beyond-a- »

Nick Cannon Puts His Director's Cap on for 'School Dance'

8 May 2012 7:36 AM, PDT | NextMovie | See recent NextMovie news »

Alright, Nick Cannon, you can do anything, we get it, stop rubbing it in our faces.

Variety is reporting that multi-hyphenate actor, rapper, comedian, record producer, TV host, radio personality, Mariah Carey's husband, dad and overall businessman is throwing his hat in the ring of movie directing for Lionsgate's "School Dance."

The "Friday" and "House Party"-style comedy builds its story around "a high school freshman who wants to be part of the most popular dance clique in his school — but he tends to freeze in the spotlight and has no clue how he's going to pass the initiation."

Cannon started off as a popular teen fixture on Nickelodeon, eventually nabbing his own show and by the early 2000s was balancing a burgeoning movie career ("Drumline," "Love Don't Cost A Thing") with his status as a rap star like Will Smith. Once his films began to flounder and a »

Kevin Hart To Star in Bet Original Pilot Series "House Husbands" (Spoof of the "Wives" Franchise)

13 April 2012 2:58 PM, PDT | Indiewire Television | See recent Indiewire Television news »

Comedian/actor Kevin Hart is gearing towards another role, this time, as the star in the Bet pilot titled House Husbands, as part of the network's few new original series line-up. The series, based on the Hollywood Husbands sketch aired during the 2011 Bet awards, is described by Bet as "The pressures of spousal stardom are almost too much to bear. Watch the House Husbands air it all out in this semi-scripted reality TV spoof of every fill-in-the-blank Wives franchise." So, it's the fellas turn to have their own version of the zillion popular Housewives' reality shows. I'm glad it's a spoof of it, which might turn out to be quite funny. We should hear a date annoucement soon from Bet. We last announced Hart is in talks to star in the Will Packer-produced, Screen Gems' comedy Con-Ed, directed by Drumline helmer Charles Stone III, who last directed 2004's baseball comedy Mr. »
