so so

The glaring problem I have with this film is some of the stiff animation. The people aren't quite drawn as well as they could be and the film has a storyboard flatness at times. The best sequence came at the end when our female hero must fight altered duplicates who can fly. This is what baffles me the most. These characters have a lot more life and yet they're at the end of the film. The japanese artists clearly know their fanbase is older and incorporate adult themes such as profanity and slight nudity(mainly breasts) to give their film a more realistic touch. The premise is fascinating, however. This is an oddity for a film of the anime ilk..a story being better than the animation. The idea of a female robot who has the ability to love and procreate is interesting and the villain is quite evil and believeable. Still the animation is just too flat at times and should have more life for that's why I truly love anime. The best art of the film I thought came throught the robots. Ironic isn't it..the most lifeless creatures in the plot are the most lifelike as far as art. ***/*****
