Rachel in Danger!! - I Think Not!!!
8 April 2011 | by (Australia) – See all my reviews

Over at Amazons a few people have criticized this excellent series for not being as good as Brian Clemen's "Thriller" - or not the same. It was never intended to be similar to "Thriller". "Armchair Thriller" was a half hour weekly show, that was more like a mini series, in which popular mystery books and stories were adapted to T.V. I thought "Rachel in Danger" was excellent, being in 4 parts instead of 6 (ie "A Dog's Ransom") made the pacing tighter, plus the fact it was nice to see a child who was sensible and clever - instead of a hysteric or a smart aleck. Even though this appears to be the only credit of actress Della Low - I thought she was wonderful as Rachel. Maybe there are parents out there who don't see their child as the next top kiddie star.

The initial scene was pretty far fetched, I admit. Rachael's father bumps into an old friend, who just happens to be an international terrorist on the lookout for a new identity etc - poor old dad just happens to confess he has no friends or family and he is newly arrived after several years in the jungle. So dad is killed, shoved in a closet and Juan (Stephen Grief) who with a flick of his fringe and the donning of glasses, looks remarkably like his victim. Victim forgets to tell him that he is due to pick up his daughter, Rachel (who hasn't seen Dad in eight years) at Euston Station.

Is Rachel ever in danger - her calm demeanour suggests she has everything under control - she not only requests and remembers the police lady's full name but also has the presence of mind to write two letters to the police station detailing all that is happening. An avid reader, she quickly realises what's going on - especially when she finds a body in the linen cupboard, works out that the parasol, that her "parents" intend to take to the garden party is not all it should be and is left in the charge of a hysterical amateur terrorist who is always muttering "we must kill them, Kill them"!!! They are no match for Rachel!!

Highly Recommended.
