Ashlee Simpson Headed for Broadway

10 November 2009 1:00 AM, PST | Celebrity Mania | See recent Celebrity Mania news »

Songstress/actress Ashlee Simpson may have met her final in TV series "Melrose Place" and be called the worst actress, but it didn't stop her from showing more of her acting talent. In fact, she had signed on to play as Roxie Hart in Broadway production of "Chicago" for a six-week run starting in December.

This maybe Ashlee's first appearance in Broadway, but the role of Hart isn't that unfamiliar for the wife of Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz. In 2006, she had take on the particular part for London's West End.

Talking about her role as Violet Foster in "Melrose Place", Ashlee previously told Access Hollywood, "Having the chance to play Violet on 'Melrose Place' has been a thrill. Although I always knew her story would come to a final, insanely unpredictable end, playing a creepy, unstable character was something I always wanted to do, so I jumped at the chance. »

Adam Sandler Plays Both Jack and Jill

28 October 2009 8:32 AM, PDT | Cinematical | See recent Cinematical news »

It seemed like maybe Adam Sandler was looking at ripping that crap-of-a-comedy stigma from him when he starred in Funny People, reminding the world that the old Sandler was a mix of ridiculous laughs and dramedy. But here's another reason to assume that was just a random blip in lowest common denominator fare: Variety reports that Columbia Pictures has grabbed the actor to star in a romantic comedy called Jack and Jill.

Rom-com can mean many things, and potentially even something good for the actor, but get a load of this: He will "play Jack as well as his twin sister Jill." And it was written by Steve Koren (old SNL scribe behind the Almighty flicks, Night at the Roxbury, and Superstar.) That's all we know. Considering the "rom" part, I'd hope that there's a love interest outside of this duo, because who would want to see Sandler-on-Sandler incest? Yes, »

Drunk superstar Tara Reid poses for Playboy

10 October 2009 3:22 PM, PDT | ReelLoop.com | See recent Reel Loop news »

Drunk superstar Tara Reid has posed nude for the popular men’s magazine Playboy. The hot chick from Van Wilder, who once said she would never pose nude, has decided to bare all and cash in on those <ahem> items she purchased a few years ago.

In 2004, Reid had a liposuction procedure that left her stomach in a form that the actress didn’t exactly want. “I know there are problems with my stomach. There are bumps on it, it’s uneven, but it’s not that bad,” she said. “My stomach scars are my battle wounds.”

According to In Touch Weekly, Reid “posed entirely nude for the popular magazine at a private residence on October 7 in Santa Monica, Calif.” A source at the magazine went on to say that she was “a bit insecure about her body when they first started. She looked great and finally got into the groove. »

Infestation (2009)

9 October 2009 2:43 PM, PDT | Planet Fury | See recent Planet Fury news »

Written and directed by Kyle Rankin

Featuring Chris Marquette, Ray Wise, Brooke Nevin

First Look Studios DVD

Review by Matthew Funk

Infestation seeks no deeper meaning than an orgy of survival horror against an inexplicable man-eating insect assault. Its title has no profound connotation. It does not attempt social commentary. It is what it is. And what it is, is pretty damn satisfying...

At the core of Infestation is a tried-and-true story arc: The heroic journey. Leading man, Cooper goes from being a hedonistic shirker to getting the girl, getting the glory and getting to butcher a lot of animated bugs. He suffers mightily in the process. This is the same arc that “Chosen Ones” like Cooper have featured in since Babylonians got it in their head to write down some of the mythical mutterings they traded over sacrificial fires. It follows this formula so concisely that audiences craving more »

Edward Herrmann and Tyler Spindel will co-star in Sony's "Born to Be a Star" opposite Christina Ricci and Nick Swardson.

Christina Ricci was Born to Be a Porn Star

8 April 2009 11:01 AM, PDT | FilmJunk | See recent FilmJunk news »

You know, there's nothing quite like a good attention-grabbing headline, the beauty of which is only slightly marred by the fact that it's kind of misleading. Christina Ricci has signed on to star in a comedy called Born to Be a Star, which is the latest movie to riff on porn as a way of creating madcap comedic situations to capture the attention of the teenage male demographic. Unfortunately, from the sounds of it, Ricci will be one of the few characters who is *not* involved in the making of pornography. Whose dumb idea was that? The movie, which was co-written by Adam Sandler, is about a nerd who discovers that his parents used to be adult film stars back in the '70s, and sets off to Hollywood to "live the dream", so to speak. Nick Swardson plays the lead, while Ricci will play his innocent and naive girlfriend. »

Adam Sandler and Christina Ricci Do Porn

6 April 2009 11:02 AM, PDT | Cinematical | See recent Cinematical news »

Adam Sandler has broken out of his Happy Madison bubble and written something for a ... wait for it ... "porn title-friendly entity." But don't worry, it's not a skin flick, and it probably won't have him Jason Segeling. The Hollywood Reporter posts that Sandler as co-written a script with Jack Giarraputo called Born to Be a Star; Tom Brady (The Hot Chick) is directing, and Christina Ricci is the first to sign on.

This news would suggest that Ricci is going to spend some time as a petite porn star, but that's not the way this is playing out. The "porn-tinged" comedy focuses on a small-town nerdy guy in Iowa who discovers that his humble parents used to be famous porn stars in the '70s. The discovery doesn't make him cower in fear and trauma, however, as most kids would. Instead, he heads for Hollywood hoping to be just like »

Engorged encouraged by the news, he sets off from Northern Iowa and heads for Hollywood in the hopes of becoming the biggest porn star in the world.Ricci will play the girlfriend of the as-yet uncast lead. 'Observe' Anna Faris in 'GQ'

26 March 2009 6:51 AM, PDT | GetTheBigPicture.net | See recent Get The Big Picture news »

There are actually two Anna Faris pictorials on newsstands this week, he said before realizing that newsstands were as antiquated as the rotary phone and virginity. She's in the new Arena magazine and this month's issue of GQ. We chose GQ.

I like Faris. Before anyone was looking, she was really good in smaller comedies, some of which were Ok and some of which were The Hot Chick. But I don't think most people really thought she could sex it up back during the Scary Movie days, or at least, that wasn't a prime selling point. Perhaps The House Bunny changed that.

She's in Observe and Report in a couple weeks, and to celebrate, men's magazines have asked her to grace their pages wearing very little clothing. Note: They didn't ask Judi Dench to do this when the latest Bond movie came out. »
