Storyline

Poona-based Satish is a professional photographer and lives with his pregnant wife, Sudha, and son named Vinod. While developing some photographs with his friend, Shyamlal, they come across one that shows a man strangling another. They report this to the police, and shortly thereafter several men show up at Satish's house, take the photos,the negative, kill Satish, then go to hunt and kill Sudha, Vinod and Shyamlal, but they manage to escape and travel to Bombay, albeit separately. Sudha gives birth to a boy and names him Ravi. Years later, Vinod, who lives with Shyamlal, is a police inspector, while Ravi, who has taken to a life of crime, works for a gangster/respectable citizen named J.D. alias Jogeshwar Dayal - a man who Shyamlal can identify as their father's killer, and the very man who has just given Ravi a contract to kill Vinod.

Kishore sang the solo songs for both the male heroes - Rajesh Khanna and Rishi Kapoor - but in the duets between the heroes, Kishore very specifically told them that he would only sing the lines which the character played by Rajesh Khanna would be required to sing in the film. So Mohd.Aziz and Hariharan became the voice of Rishi Kapoor in the film for the songs Kisko Kahe Hum and Tal Betal Sara Jiwan respectively.

A story often told

Zamana brings two romantic actors together - Super Star Rajesh Khanna and Rishi Kapoor. The movie has been written by Salim Javed and is a tale of two lost brothers and their taking revenge for their father's murder. The movie has better than average music by Usha Khanna but the turning point in the movie is the performance of Rajesh Khanna. He delivers in a very smooth way the character of a police officer who is misunderstood by his brother. The movie is well supported by performances of Rajesh Khanna, Rishi Kapoor, Ompuri, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Poonam Dhillon and Ranjeeta. The movie may have took a long time in making and the plot was a little old by the time the movie got released. However, it is a must see as it is a clean entertainer with good performances by both Rajesh Khanna and Rishi Kapoor.
