Writer/director Rolfe Kanefsky said that when they adapted the comic book series for television, they dropped the darker idea of using the box to force women to have sex against their will used in the comics. They wanted to avoid anything that alluded to rape or taking advantage of women.
Michelle Bauer said she had a lot of fun making her episode, but hated the cheesy German accent, saying she sounded like a really bad Bela Lugosi. She kept begging director Rolf Kanefsky to let her drop the accent, but he wouldn't.
