Trivia

Since much of the story took place in Montreal, Quebec, the producers decided to make two versions of the mini-series, one in English and one in French. Instead of dubbing, a mostly bilingual cast was used. Every scene was shot twice, in English and in French. The cast members were given two scripts daily, a French and English version and had to memorize their dialogue in both languages. The lone exception was Michael Ironside, who felt he did not speak French well enough and his parts were dubbed. See more »

CBC's version of The Soprano's
12 April 2003 | by (Winnipeg) – See all my reviews

I guess CBC is trying not to lose anymore viewers to HBO, and came up with this. Most of the budget is spent on the first episode, and the show hurts because of this. Watchable, decent budget, good acting, which is a big surprise for the CBC. Michael Ironside is a strong actor and it was nice to have a realistic watchable show on TV. I still can not believe I watch a CBC show, other than Hockey. Maybe, I will watch PBS next. Worth viewing. 6/10
