The license plate on the van reads, "IN A PKL"
The credits include the line, "This movie filmed entirely on location in a mall in Lombard, Illinois." The mall is Yorktown Center, home of Big Idea Productions.
The kid sitting in the back of the van (next to the pea) originally appeared in "The Toy That Saved Christmas" and is a caricature of creator Phil Vischer's daughter.
When the aribag deploys after the van crashes, Bob says, "Am I in... heaven?" This is a reference to the video "King George and the Ducky" in which Junior Asparagus says the same line with the same inflection.
All the places Jonah (Archibald) sings about in "It Cannot Be" are real places from that period of history, among them Joppa, Jericho, Damascus...
The creators originally thought of doing the story of Noah's Ark for this movie but animal fur would have been expensive to create. They decided on the story of Jonah since whales don't have any fur.
Phil Vischer was reluctant at first in "casting" Archibald Asparagus as Jonah since he wasn't a huge VeggieTales star at the time. Other choices were Bob, Larry, Junior Asparagus, and Jimmy Gourd.
Auditions for Khalil proved to be difficult. It eventually came down to Tim Hodge and Mike Nawrocki. Hodge got the part.
