The content of this page was created directly by users and has not been screened or verified by IMDb staff.
Since the beliefs that parents want to instill in their children can vary greatly, we ask that, instead of adding your personal opinions about what is right or wrong in a film, you use this feature to help parents make informed viewing decisions by describing the facts of relevant scenes in the title for each one of the different categories: Sex and Nudity, Violence and Gore, Profanity, Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking, and Frightening/Intense Scenes.

Sex & Nudity

6/10

In the movie there are 3 sex scenes.

In the beginning of the movie about 10 minutes in, a boy walks into his trailer and ends up walking in on his mom having sex with her boyfriend on the couch. The scene lasts about three seconds, we see her bare back, the side of her breast and a very small portion of her butt. There is moaning and movement visible. The scene is very brief and quick, and very darkly lit, and you can't really see anything.

After a rap battle at a lunch truck, a boy and a girl go to the metal stamping factory where he works at, and they have sex. It is shown completely start to finish with no cuts at all. We see her topless wearing a bra which shows significant cleavage, and the side of her butt and crotch area. There is quite a bit of thrusting and panting. This scene is not very long-maybe a minute or two-but pretty emotional.

When a man goes to the song recording studio, he walks down the hallway, and looks through a window. He sees a couple having sex in the studio room. She is sitting on a table and her legs are around him. There's heavy thrusting visible visible, and she grabs and clings onto Wink as he thrusts. There's moaning and the scene is short and is darkly lit, only last a couple seconds each time it is shown.

During a rap battle at the shelter, a man shows his bare butt for a comical reason (I'll turn around with a great big smile, and walk my white ass back across 8 Mile).

It is said that a little girl was raped in an old house on 8 Mile Road. (It Is Brought Up Many Times, Never Graphic).

Alex asks Jimmy why people call him 'Rabbit' and Future (Mekhi Phifer) says Because he's fast, and likes to fuck a lot.

Violence & Gore

7/10

Some fights, they aren't very graphic but are pretty intense.

The main character beats up his mum's boyfriend after the man pushes her. The boyfriend beats Rabbit to the floor and against several objects gets pretty rough.

A character accidentally shoots himself in the thigh. Although this is done for laughs, you see blood covering his pants and his hands --- he is on crutches, disabled for the rest of the movie.

A boy is jumped by a group of guys, while his sister watches, screaming in terrifying horror, not graphic, but still intense. He is punched and kicked. He has a severely bruised eye for the rest of the movie.

Thus again the Motion Picture Association of America still rates this "R" because the violence is really that bad, not graphic, but definitely intense

Rabbit is subject to hearing details of dissing women, the disabled, and the others.

Profanity

10/10

Very strong language throughout. 191 uses of the F-word often used in rap lyrics. Some S-words, uses of n*gger, ass, damn, religious exclamations and many others.

Also some sexual references.

5/10

Some use of marijuana, but nothing to suggest or even promote excessive use of narcotics.

A man is seen smoking a cigarette.

4/10

A boy is beaten by many thugs in front of his little sister whilst she is screaming through the window

Total - 32/50
