'Guardians' Star Lord Search Down to Two and K-Stew Back for 'Snow White' Sequel

1.) Marvel has narrowed their search for the lead role of Peter Quill in Guardians of the Galaxy down to Jim Sturgess (Cloud Atlas), Zachary Levi ("Chuck") and a third mystery contender. Interestingly enough, Levi wasn't one of the five names to appear on a short list for the role last month. He is, however, already filming his role as Fandral in Thor: The Dark World, replacing Joshua Dallas, who played the character in the first Thor film. Seems like it could lead to confusion if Levi winds up playing both Quill and Fandral, but this thing is likely far from over. Marvel is targeting an August 1, 2014 release for Guardians of the Galaxy with James Gunn (Super) at the helm. Variety 2.) Box-office phenom Chad Michael Murray is negotiating to join the ever-selective Nicolas Cage in a remake of the Christian-themed film Left Behind. It would appear the "One Tree Hill" star »

‘Riddick’ Release Date Revealed & Will Go IMAX!

19 December 2012 10:00 AM, PST | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

Vin Diesel has confirmed the release date for his sci-fi threequel Riddick, the next in the franchise that follows the futuristic adventures of serial-killing antihero, Richard B. Riddick. The Pitch Black actor announced via his Facebook page that Riddick will arrive in cinemas 6th September 2013 and has also secured an IMAX release (fingers crossed it’s the same for us here in the UK).

Riddick will this time have that ruthless and selfish streak back after the bloated shenanigans of The Chronicles Of Riddick. Crash landing on a mysterious planet and wanted by every bounty hunter in the universe, Riddick alerts those hunting him to his whereabouts, with a survival scheme to see the planets vicious creatures do their worst on the headhunters coming to collect their prize – and hopefully stealing one of their vehicles to make his escape.

Vin Diesel's 'Riddick' Will Finally Hit Theaters Next September

19 December 2012 7:30 AM, PST | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

By Hannah Soo Park

It's hard to believe, but a little over a decade has passed since Richard B. Riddick made his intergalactic debut in 2000's "Pitch Black." Ever since, the elusive sci-fi character has managed to garner enough appeal to be the center of a trilogy that includes 2004's "The Chronicles of Riddick" and the forthcoming "Riddick," which just got its official release date.

Universal has confirmed that the third installment of David Twohy's series will open on September 6, 2013, making it one of a handful of sci-fi flicks scheduled for a 2013 release. In addition to playing in conventional theaters, the movie will also hit IMAX theaters nationwide.

With all of that said, we should also mention that Vin Diesel is reprising his role as Riddick, an infamous antihero type, who's been on the run since his introduction in "Pitch Black." This time around, he's left for dead on a lifeless, »

19 December 2012 7:08 AM, PST | Fandango | See recent Fandango news »

Vin Diesel fans: Start your engines.    The action just doubled down on 2013, meaning you’ll get more Vin for your money. Vin Diesel has revealed the release date of Riddick via his official Facebook page, after teasing the information for some time. The threequel, which follows on from Pitch Black and The Chronicles Of Riddick, will open in the Us on 6 September 2013, with a UK release date yet to be confirmed (although we’d imagine it’d be around the same time). It’s getting an IMAX release on top of a conventional cinema run, which suggests we can expect some pretty ambitious visuals, despite the synopsis giving the impression that the film...

Riddick Finally Finds A Release Date Next Fall

19 December 2012 1:13 AM, PST | cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news »

It's been nearly a decade since we last saw Vin Diesel slap on a pair of round goggles and go around space being called Riddick, but that streak is coming to an end. Eight years after the release of The Chronicles of Riddick an official release date has been announced for it's sequel. The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Universal Pictures will be releasing Riddick into theaters on September 6, 2013 and, what's more, they are planning a corresponding IMAX release to go with it. It will be the first movie in the series to be released during the fall, as Pitch Black was a February release while the previously mentioned Chronicles was out in the heart of summer. But the latest title is currently sitting on prime real estate competition-wise. While not historically a great week for movies, it's currently the only wide release scheduled for that weekend and is spaced »

Universal Sets Release Date for Vin Diesel Sci-Fi Flick 'Riddick'

Universal will release Riddick, the third installment of the sci-fi action movie series starring Vin Diesel, on Sept. 6. The movie also will be released on Imax. Riddick is an escaped-convict antihero whose exploits were first regaled in 2000’s Pitch Black. The movie proved to be a hit, and a sequel -- blown up to tentpole proportions -- ensued with 2004’s The Chronicles of Riddick. It took several years, but a new movie got underway with the intent to bring the character to his stripped-down roots with a more modest budget. David Twohy has written and directed all three

Riddick set for IMAX Release in Autumn 2013

Riddick is by far one of the films I’m most looking forward to in 2013.

Vin Diesel is returning for the long-awaited third film in the series, reuniting once more with writer-director David Twohy following the awesome Pitch Black and The Chronicles of Riddick, and all signs point to an awesome new instalment.

We recently saw the first international poster for the film last month. And now Diesel has announced that not only will the film be hitting theatres in Autumn 2013, it will be getting an IMAX release as well:

New ‘Riddick’ International Poster

29 November 2012 4:54 PM, PST | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

The Fast and the Furious may have catapulted Vin Diesel to stardom (and launched a still-thriving franchise), but before that, action fans knew him as the mercenary antihero Richard B. Riddick in director David Twohy’s 2000 sci-fi thriller, Pitch Black.

That film eventually led its director and star to reunite for a sequel – The Chronicles of Riddick (2004) – which traded in its predecessor’s more low-key, atmospheric tone for a grander scale. The resulting film failed to meet expectations at the box office, but regardless, Diesel and Twohy have consistently talked up a third installment in the Riddick series, appropriately titled Riddick.

Now, courtesy of CineHeroes (via I Am Rogue), we have our first look at the film’s international poster. See it below:

Riddick Teaser Poster Promises Vin Diesel's Return

Through a feat of sheer will, Vin Diesel has managed to make a third Riddick film a reality, completing a trilogy that started with Pitch Black and The Chronicles of Riddick and that virtually no one ever thought would go further than that. Riddick is clearly Diesel's passion, and though he's shown off occasional photos from the set, he's now giving us our first official look at the film in the form of a French teaser poster. No, we're not sure why he's kicking things off in France, so we'll just have to go with it. The poster emerged at France's CineHeroes, where they don't have much more information beyond noting that the movie is currently in post-production. Diesel is joined in the cast by Battlestar Galactica's Katee Sackhoff, Bad Boys II's Jordi Molla, and Dredd's Karl Urban, who returns as Vaako. The film is directed and »

First Poster For Vin Diesel’s ‘Riddick’ Return Is Awesome!

29 November 2012 12:30 AM, PST | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

Science-fiction sleeper hit Pitch Black was one genre film that impressed me during its initial release in 1999. I’ve written many times about my passion for Vin Diesel’s ruthless conflicted character Richard B. Riddick and his cool-as-fuck pair of adjusted eyes. The overblown sequel The Chronicles Of Riddick, while no means a dire effort, attempted to make his mysterious serial-killing anti-hero, a cuddly father figure and taking away the well structured traits built-up throughout the franchise opener.

Well, we’re promised he’ll be back to his selfish best when David Twohy’s threequel, simply-titled Riddick, sees the hunted intergalactic outlaw crash land on a planet filled with unspeakable horrors. His plan is to notify the bounty hunters after his head to his whereabouts and steal one of their ships to make his escape.

Here we have the terrific first poster for the film still awaiting a confirmed release »
